Sometimes trends tend to go in and out of fashion without ever making their way into the mainstream. That’s what happened to tote bags. There’s no shortage of nice ones (we’ve featured more than our fair few) but blog posts about totes have suddenly gained a defensive air about them.

This Hakkin.It bag does one thing that totes can’t - make you look like you mean business. Regardless of where you work, there are times when you need to look like a man on a mission (especially in times like these). This bag provides that. It’s a Japan only piece though, so get your proxy on. (Style Cruise)

Duffle bags are usually done in nylon or canvas, so it’s nice to see a good sturdy leather duffle enter the fray. APC always deliver on those basics that someone really should have made before. The bag shape is unchanged from their previous collections - but being available in full grain leather adds a level of sophistication that isn’t usually seen in duffle bags. Taking this to the gym would be doing a disservice, keep it for short trips and nights over at the girlfriend/boyfriend’s house.

For this Fall, Louis Vuitton adds some details to their men’s bag line. The most prominent is the black leather piping and detailing which accentuate the monogram a bit, and make these bags more than simple clones of their female counterparts. Our favorite of the collection would be the soccer inspired weekender (seen above) with the patch leather work. Almost makes the weekender worthy of a kick around the field.

In our ongoing quest to find Barbour pieces that aren’t being worn by hundreds of self-facilitating media nodes in East London, we’ve found this bag. For us it’s perfect. Not one of their more grandad-y pieces, it could fit into a young mans wardrobe without looking like he’s decided to play dress up for the day, which is a risk you run with the workwear look. We’d usually advocate waiting until stores start their sales before buying (nothing worse than buying a piece for it to go on sale a week later) but Barbour don’t look like have online sales, so it’s available from their store now.

We know we said we’d show Church’s AW09 collection today, but we’ve decided to hold it until next week. As our constant forays into unobtainable Japanese clothing shows, we like to tease. Shoe lovers will be glad to know we’ve got Rachel Comey’s AW09 collection later on today. Anyway, about these totes. They’re well made, sturdy and could be worked into a younger man’s wardrobe (which can’t be said for most of Church’s accessories). Church’s have been pretty under the radar as far as the heritage thing went, but now Tres Bien are stocking them, look for the blog love to grow considerably.

We previewed Ally Capellino’s A/W09 collection on Friday, but because we couldn’t hold back on this bag armada (and because we said we’d post it today) we’ve put up the full collection today. While we were fans of the SS09 collection, we much prefer Capellino’s winter collections. As we noted in the preview, there’s a healthy amount of waxed cotton and they’re available in suitably autumnal colours. Cotton aside, there’s also dollops of nylon, leather and canvas in satchel, holdall and messenger bag form.

If you’re looking to hop on the rucksack bandwagon that’s set to explode this coming autumn/winter, this is the bag for you. This Margaret Howell rucksack is the perfect size for a day bag when you’ll need to carry a few items for a day out and about. The only problem with this bag is that some might say it’s a little dull, but for those who just want a good quality bag that matches most of their outfits, this will be the bag for them. A casual day brief from MEI. They are a stray away from the more traditional briefs and bring a more outdoorsy casual by making them with ripstop material on the outer. Great for your next weekend trek where (unfortunately) you need to get some work done. (nepenthes)

This tan holdall is the second of our Hackett A/W09 previews and we’re big fans of this bag. Not only is the logo understated (which is more than can be said for most of their SS09 bag collection) it’s also sturdily made, unlike those annoyingly floppy barrel bags that are doing the rounds lately. The tan shade is also great and would work well within a neutral colour based outfit.
