These mid-tops espadrilles from Balenciaga will piss off the espadrille purists. We like them for their attempt to mix leathers into the picture and really making them into something new. Check that leather heel hit. Don’t worry, the jute sole remains. The black piping works as well. LN-CC has them.
While I’m not clear I enjoy the high waisted nature of the belting on many of these looks, the Balenciaga men’s collection for Spring 2011 makes its debut on Selectism. Tailored longtail coats in leather offer an interesting take for the season. Be sure to tell us your thoughts in the comments. (00o00)

The Balenciaga collections arguably appeals to a very strict European sensibility, but we we think Spring 2010 may have you browsing for a while. The French line pulls through with some great looks which have even raised the eyebrows of our Snob editors. Well worth a viewing.

We figure someone is going to get cold soon. It may not be in the Northeast USA but I am sure Scandinavia (hello!) will get some chill before we do. You could go some some subtle gloves but why not try these unisex luggers from Balenciaga. The Lurex Mittens feature thumb holes and can be worn short or long on the arm. If they don’t work for you, your girl will take them. Well made with 52/48 wool/lurex. (browns)

We love a tote bag as much as the next guy, but sometimes you need a bag that has a little more gravitas. This Balenciaga overnight has a business-like feel to it and is perfect for those days when you need to show your serious side. The square shape means it won’t be ideal if you’re trying to squeeze footwear inside it, but apart from that it looks like the perfect overnight business trip bag. Get it from Matches.
Sometimes simpler is better. These Balenciaga trainers haven’t got any fancy embellishments (apart from the fact that they’re silver) and it’s all the better for it. The leather is pleated and has a slightly worn-in look to it, making them as understated as a pair of silver shoes could ever be. Get them from Browns.
This v-neck collared piqué coat from Balenciaga for Men is a classic with it’s lean cut and black cotton finish. “A breast pocket sits to the left and front pockets sit on either side just above the waist. The hemline falls to mid-thigh.” Available now from Browns.

Now it’s coming up to Christmas, pre-sales are starting to pop up everywhere. Farfetch.com are the latest site to get in on this, featuring items at 25% off, like this Balenciaga cashmere sweater. Given that it’s Balenciaga, the discount doesn’t move the piece to H&M prices, but there’s still a saving to be made. Get it from Farfetch.
It’s been impossible to ignore the increased interest in totes for men lately, with even old established tailors getting in on the act by releasing bags they previously used just for necessity. But not everyone has got on board with totes as some find them a little too casual and slightly flimsy. For those people who like the practicality of the tote, this Balenciaga everyday bag is for you. Sturdier than any tote you’ll see, it’s a bag that could be used for smart or casual occasions. It’s available at Browns.
Browns just got in a new pair of Balenciaga boots. The at first classic looking bootscome with a shiny toecap that reminds us of rain boots. The boots can be worn smart and casual. One needs at least one good pair of boots for the winter and these are a good start.
