American artist, Ed Ruscha gets the Polaroid treatment from Band of Outsiders to highlight their Spring/Summer 2012 collection. The pop artist follows a fine line of what we’ll call “Polaroid ambassadors” for Band of Outsiders who express the wear of their garments in casual and often normal environments. Sure the open fridge and pit bull in the lot may not resonate with all, but the clothing will.

We all need an antique brown leather Harrington jacket. Band of Outsiders makes this lovely version. The Italian made jacket has all the features you would expect from a Harrington, so I will not go into too much detail. What I will say is that while the world’s banking is collapsing (again), you should at least look good for under $2000 US. The dollar is cheap.

NOWNESS goes behind the scenes with Scott Sternberg preparing his Florence show, inspired by “West Side Story.” NOWNESS trailed the designer before and after the show, which featured 46 dancers and models sashaying to Leonard Bernstein’s iconic score while outfitted in the brand’s eponymous line of preppy menswear for spring/summer 2012, as well as the tomboy-inspired womenswear range Boy and its offshoot Girl.”

It’s seasonal mash-up time. There’s spring/summer 12 collections being showcased, spring/summer 11 items on sale and autumn/winter 11 clothes entering stores, all happening at the same, rather confusing, time. Here’s a shoe from Band of Outsiders autumn/winter collection, which just fell into stores. They’re perfect for doing your best recreation of the dance scene in the film the brand is named after. Working their presentation to the theme of “West Side Story,” Band of Outsiders showcased their Spring/Summer 2012 collection as the special guest designer showcase during Pitti Uomo. Mr Fischer gives us his take from the show: “Scott Sternberg put together a remarkable show, that was much more entertaining than what you usually get to see on the runway. Taking place at an old tabacco factory in Florence, the show was a mix of classic runway walking, dancing, and theatric performances, all while playing Westside Story as a background theme and music. Both the mens and womens collections for Spring/Summer 2012 were shown at the presentation, which was crowded with buyers, press and celebrity guests.”

We’ve seen the iconic photographer-clothes maker t-shirt collaboration a few times now and, while it doesn’t always work, there are some good ones. For us, the problem with the bad ones is that they often took a picture and made it look like something you’d get from the local market. This Band version avoids that by making the print nice and sizeable – ensuring it looks two steps above the shirts you can make at Snappy Snaps. (Tres Bien)

If you’ve followed this site for any amount of time, you’ll know about our love for patchwork. Yeah, we still like it – no matter how many ‘it looks like grandma’s old quilt’ jokes we get thrown our way. This one’s from the Band and, as far as patchwork goes, it’s pretty tame – which is a good thing. (Aloha Rag)

Commemorating the opening of two pop-up shops with Lane Crawford in Beijing and Hong Kong, Band of Outsiders has produced three square neckties in Indian madras. Fear not: they’re available on the O.C. online shop for purchase as well.
