Selectism - Fay Italy hits more Barneys Stores

Italy outwear maker, Fay is making a further push in the USA market, according to DNR. “Fay, the Italian outerwear brand, is out to make a name for itself stateside.

The Fay collection, including sportswear and outerwear, moved into the Barneys New York flagship on Madison Avenue last winter and, come fall, it will be rolled out to four additional Barneys doors…The business was founded in 1980 with one hit product, the “4-Hook” coat, inspired by American firemen’s coats.”

Selectism - Rogan for Target at Barney's New York

This seems to a first. FWD is reporting, “Rogan Gregory’s capsule designs for Target may not have generated the same frenzy as the Kate Moss for Topshop collection, but the collection certainly has a fan in Barneys New York. Julie Gilhart, the store’s fashion director, has worked her magic by persuading Target to launch the Rogan for Target collection at her Manhattan and Beverly Hills flagships in advance of their launch at the superstore. The collection, which marks the first time Barneys has carried Target merchandise, will arrive in New York and Los Angeles on May 8 and 15, respectively, and will be carried on the Co-op floor. The pieces will only be in stock for five days-after that, shoppers will have to wait for the mass debut.”

Pretty interesting concept that really begins to elevate the quality of Target’s capsule collections. They aint a box store no mo!

Selectism - National T-Shirt Recycling Program

As part of the Season 2 kick-off of “The Green” on Sundance Channel, the network has partnered with Barneys New York and the eco-chic fashion brand Loomstate to launch a first of its kind, national T-shirt recycling program. Beginning April 13th, consumers will be encouraged to drop off old t-shirts at all Barneys’ locations nationwide. Loomstate will “re-fashion” the T-shirts (re-style, re-dye, re-print, etc.) to create a new, limited edition T-shirt collection to be sold exclusively at Barneys for Holiday 2008. Participating consumers will receive a 20% discount on women’s Loomstate for Barneys Green and men’s Loomstate merchandise from April 13-27. Proceeds from the program will benefit 1% for the Planet (PRNewswire).

Barneys NYC x GoyardFor the holiday season this year Barneys New York is celebrating in green. For the occasion they asked several designers to either donate for charity or to create eco-inspired one-offs.

French luxury leather goods brand Goyard came out with a remix of their most popular bag. It comes in green, and features the recycling logo in gold. Not only the color hints at the theme, the bag is actually made out of recyclable canvas, unlike their regular collection. The bag goes for 1065 USD.
