Selectism - Japanese Paper Clips

Ben was right. RSVP in Berlin is one of those shops you have to experience if only to try and figure out how they can survive on selling high end stationary goods. Well, high end may not be the best term. Let’s use premium. RSVP is an OCD lover’s delight – the small shop’s goods are placed with thought out attention to display. When you pick something up, you want to put it back exactly as you found it. The gem in the shop? Japanese paper clips of various forms.

Choose between nickel plated and true 18carat gold clips all well priced  - 10 18carat clips will run you around 7euros.

More looks at the Japanese Paper Clips after the jump.

Selectism - Omega's "The 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing" Exhibit

Berliners have a nice opportunity to check out Omega’s “The 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing” Exhibit being held now at the famous KaDeWe Department Store through August 24th. “One of the exhibition’s highlights is a model of the first OMEGA wristwatch to be worn in space: the Speedmaster with the reference CK 2998, identical to the one worn by Walter Schirra during the Mercury Sigma 7 mission. Also on display will be the original Speedmaster watches astronauts Donn F. Eisele (Apollo 7) and Thomas Stafford (Gemini 9 and Apollo 10) had strapped to their wrists during their missions.” (timezone)

More looks at Omega’s “The 40th Anniversary of the Moon Landing” Exhibit after the jump.

Chelsea Farmer’s Club, Berlin

chelsea farmers club store berlin front 540x339 Chelsea Farmer’s Club, Berlin

There is some love affair with SW6 London at the Chelsea Farmer’s Club in Berlin. Imagine a shop in the center of German football with a love affair with Chelsea cool (doesn’t bother me!). Truth be told, the shop is more interested in celebrating the sensibilities of old England fashions. It is a study into a period of menswear that remained understated and focused on being rustic rather than edgy. Expect galoshes, sweaters, tweeds, and of course, chelsea boots. School’s in session at Chelsea Farmer’s Club in Berlin. (stylemag)

Living Mutants Force Team Model #1 Varsity Jacket

RTEmagicC livingmutants varsity 1.jpg Living Mutants Force Team Model #1 Varsity Jacket

Living Mutants we introduced to you a little white ago, when they released a leather down jacket. The brand has a strive to only work with the best materials and people out there and present something unseen from Germany.

That is also no different with their latest pieces – the Living Mutants Force Team Model #1 Varsity Jacket. The premium reversible wool/leather varsity jacket comes in 100% heavyweight premium combed Merino Wool and sleeves made out of premium French matted cow nappa leather. The lining is a 100% cotton with camo screen print and also cuffs and collar come in 100% cotton. You can trust us when we tell you that this kind of quality you can maybe find on a Japanese brand, but nowhere else in the the market where Living Mutants wants to have an impact. The artwork of the jacket has been done by Studioanti & R .Weinberg. The jacket comes nicely wrapped in a suit bag.

We are very impressed by brands such as Garbstore and Living Mutants, which are completely different from one another, but both set the standards very high and are both a new generation of European brands.

Expect a full line to come from Living Mutants soon. Until then you should already be excited about these special pieces. The varsity jacket is limited to 100 pieces and is now exclusively available through Am Firmament.

We have a series of exclusive pictures of the jacket that you can check out after the jump.

RTEmagicC arkitip issue44 1.jpg Arkitip Issue 44 Boxset Magazine + 3D Viewer

For the first time ever Arkitip handed the design responsibilities for the issue edition to an outside source. That source being the design trio Wood Wood. Their 44th issue edition also served as the working catalog for the HIGHMATH exhibition that took place last week at the Pool Gallery in Berlin.

Artists that participated in the exhibition were Andrew Schoultz, Chris Lindig, Ed Templeton, Evan Hecox, Cody Hudson, CR Stecyk III, Eric Elms, Gary Benzel, Geoff McFetridge, Jo Jackson, José Parlá, Josh Petherick, Kaws, Killpixie, Michael Leon, Kevin Lyons, Michael Perry, Parra, Phil Frost, Perks, Peter Beste, Peter Sutherland, Richard Colman, Ryan Waller, Shepard Fairey, Todd St. John & Steven Harrington. If you could not make it yet, the exhibition is still running, so go check it out.

For the occasion Arkitip did not only release their latest issue. It actually came in a box set, which consisted of the magazine and also a 3D Viewer with slides of all the artwork that was also presented at the exhibition. The box set is now on sale for 45 USD here.

After the jump more pictures.

Living Mutants – “Stealth Generation” Leather Down Bomber

14 December 2007, 18.41 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Living Mutants Leathe Down Bomber

We have officially found our favorite jacket for this winter. Living Mutants is a new label out of Berlin and instead of going the normal path of starting off with t-shirts and hoodies, the brand presents as their first piece a leather down jacket – the Stealth Generation.

The jacket is an update to the infamous 80´s style bomber jackets, remixed as a down puffa with intricate details. Features such as its concealed invisible zipper, embedded goose down filled warmth-circulation cavities, and a removable fur-collar amplify the appearance of the cow nappa leather outer.

The jacket is only a preview of the Ressurection Line that the brand is releasing in 2008 and is exclusively available at Firmament. The price is obviously not very low, but in this case it is definitely justified.

Check out some more detailed pictures after the jump.
