Bill Amberg Hunter Backpack

Bill Amberg Hunter Backpack

As much as we like to obsess about the details the fact that this superb backpack by Bill Amberg is Made in England with vegetable tanned leather, English brass buckles and 100% cotton drill lining doesn’t matter very much when we look at these shots. It’s just very, very goodlooking. Distractingly so in fact. Black, Brown or Tan, we’d be happy with whichever.

Selectism - Bill-Amberg-Spring-2012-01

With five new ranges and a recent crowdsourcing project, Bill Amberg’s been a busy boy. We caught up with him at Pitti to ask him a few questions and get a look at his bags.

See both after the leap.

Bill Amberg iPad Cases

Not the first time we’ve looked at the Bill Amberg iPad cases, but with the iPad 2 (and 1) in hand, we figure some would be interested in their leather works as well. Made from bridle leather with contrasting liner and detail. A simple button closure completed them.

Bill Amberg Hunter Rucksack Backpack

Bill Amberg Hunter Rucksack

Bill Amberg’s leather rucksack is a thing of beauty. As he describes it: “Slightly smaller than my previous sacks as I was seldom filling them anyway. Suede lined straps to avoid slipping off your shoulder and the bottom of the strap is attached to the outside of the bags; consequently very comfortable against your back.” Very well done, as expected. Bill Amberg Rucksack

Sale pick time. Anything white (well, apart from white shirts) immediately carries summer connotations, so this is one piece that’s well suited for the warmer months. It’s not one for the super-classic-throw-anything-out-that’s-not-navy-or-grey crowd, but we think more than a few guys could pull this off. Our only complaint  – and there’s always a complaint – is that the straps on this would make carrying anything heavy quite the workout. (ASOS)

Bill Amberg Selvage Wool Collection

selectism - Bill Amberg Selvage Wool Collection

Bill Amberg’s Selvage line of bags is given a wool make over this fall. Using a felted herringbone woven exclusively for the project, the popular ferry, skiff, and lugger bags get the treatment. There’s also a lovely little pen bag. Each is finished, as all Amberg bags are, with leather handles and base. (via Acquire).

Bill Amberg Signature Boston Bag

Monocle’s recent collab with Bill Amberg reminded us that the guy’s own line stuff is pretty, pretty good. When you feature as many companies as we do (there’s only three of us writing here, you know) it’s easy to forget a couple – and that’s what happened with good ol’ Bill.

This Boston signature bag is yet another good weekend bag – we’ve featured more than a few in our time – and it also has the added bonus of being on sale. Sales are all relative, but 50% off a Bill Amberg bag is a good deal, if we say so ourselves. (Bill Amberg)

Bill Amberg Selvage Lugger Bag

We’re live and let live here at SL, but there’s a few things we won’t stand for. Over designed bags are one of them. We like our bags stripped and easy – none of this monogram LV nonsense. That’s why we’re into this Bill Amberg bag, it’s clean, simple and straight to the point. The shape might not be rigid enough for some people’s tastes but it’s a long way off from being mistaken for a purse. (Oi Polloi)

Detailed shots are after that leap.
