Delivering on a new platform, Billy Reid took to the runway to showcase his Autumn/Winter 2012 collection for men and women that delivers the strongest collection yet from the designer. Tailoring on the garments and controlled fits clearly cater to a more sophisticated of Southern charm while opening the racks for gentlemen of all natures. This is indeed classic American menswear which is stepping out of the backwoods and into both forward casual and formal territory. The story here is told through the cuts, fabrics and growth.

Billy Reid Sweater

This Billy Reid sweater is making the onset of chilly autumn feel just that little less awful. Let’s face it, the only good thing about the end of summer is getting to revisit your forgotten knitwear and that very special ‘just puttin’ on my sweater’ feeling. Billy has taken inspiration from blanket lining with this one, charcoal wool blend, ribbed collar and cuffs.

The CFDA Vogue Fashion Fund-winner invited lanky Delta blues troubadour Justin Townes Earle to headline the third-anniversary lineup.”

Billy Reid "Rise" Flood Relief Shirt

We’re going to get right to the point on this very important relief t-shirt.

“On April 27th, the Southeastern region of the United States was devastated by heavy storms and powerful tornadoes. In their wake, the relief efforts have been focused to help residents get back on their feet. Designer and Florence, Alabama resident Billy Reid has designed a limited edition t-shirt to contribute to his community’s disaster relief initiatives.

The Rise T-Shirt pays specific homage to the small communities that have been completely wrecked in the wake of the tornadoes, but with the hope that they will rise from the catastrophe. The men’s and women’s t-shirt retails for $38 and is sold exclusively at www.billyreid.com and his six national stores located in New York, NY; Nashville, TN; Charleston, SC; Florence, AL; Dallas, TX; and Houston, TX.”

Video | SoLost: Billy Reid at Home in Alabama

http://www.vimeo.com/22140395

“So how many people do you know that are equally at home shooting the breeze with fashion grand dame Diana Von Furstenberg or just plain shooting….a deer? As in from a blind? And, of those, how many have shot to the forefront of the fashion world, designing elegantly post-modern Southern threads in a style described by one publication as “Tom Wolfe-meets-Spike Jonze”? And of THOSE, how many decided to place their headquarters not in Paris, Milan or New York, but in Florence? No, not Italy — Alabama. Florence, Alabama.” (189)
