Selectism - billykirk-zippered-briefcase-01

SL columnists Billy Kirk have been busy this season, bringing out bags at the rate of a speeding, erm, bagmaker (it’s early, our brains haven’t thought of bad jokes yet). If those Opening Ceremony collab bags were too much for you, then this should be more your speed. (Bows and Arrows)

BIllykirk for Opening Ceremony Bags

The O.C. comes through with some new numbers from the Billykirk family in some surprising (almost refreshing) colorways. The collection – composed of a grip of carryalls, totes, and messengers – is a “railroad-striped array” in red/white and blue/white. The leather is color blocked to match. The collection works well with the gents and ladies. Opening Ceremony exclusive – of course.

Billykirk Bags for Spring 2011

Now with updated photos…

Billykirk’s getting ready for Autumn 2011 with some new takes on their classic leather work bags. This time around they’re using an ash colored waxed Cotton as well as Horween leathers – some of the best in the world as you know. The classic brief shown above is well constructed. We’re curious to see and feel the finish changes on these new bags.

Billykirk for Opening Ceremony Dopp Kits

Some new Opening Ceremony x Billykirk work in the form of a toiletry or Dopp bag. “What started out as a collaboration to commemorate the opening of our OC Tokyo store continues to be a truly fruitful partnership. with the same amish-made, superior quality leather goods Billykirk is known for, we add a very chromatic, very oc touch to the mix, incorporating a bright variety of dyes for our exclusive collection.” Choose between red, blue, and green (my favorite).

Our friends at Billykirk have produce a special travel set for the Charleston, SC based Garden & Gun Club – founded to bring the Garden & Gun Magazine to life. Through their auctions, the club supports a variety of important local arts & heritage sites which promote the unique culture of the American South. To fit the needs of the club Chris and Kirk created a custom stamping for their gorgeous waxed canvas and leather carryall and leather tote bags.

The set is available only through G&G auction, with this being lot four of the current sale on igavel. Fitting of the traditions inherent to Billykirk, the proceeds from this lot will go to the American College of Building Arts.
