A showpiece for sure and the color is about as perfect as it gets. Runs in at $495, which is actually a fair price for this Thom Browne work, but it should have been done in fleece.

On Thom Browne’s work: “his men, meanwhile, will be just as ready for a weekend at the country club, i.e. a cotton pique sack suit with a bright pink blazer and green pants. Browne’s uberprep moment doesn’t mean he turned his back entirely on some of his earlier designs. Black Fleece’s hallmark red, white and blue blazer was still there, this time in a silk rep tie fabric.”

We first looked at the fragrance offering from Black Fleece last September. Today, we get some more information on the Japan launch of this fragrance from the high-end side of the Brooks Brother’s business. Now, we should note that they’re looking more and more like women’s fragrances but seeing as most guys want to keep their femmes in the fold of goodness, they should consider picking these up once they land outside those Japan shores. Brooks Brother’s Black Fleece brings some new goodness to the proper boot game with their “Coniston” boot for Autumn 2010. The boots are made in England and feature a “double welted rubber studded sole to help prevent slipping…Storm welt [and] leather locker loop.” The blue color is in line with their strategy (of course).

Brooks Brother’s Black Fleece launched a new fragrance as part of last Thursday’s “Fashion Night Out.” “This packaging for Brooks Brothers combines the traditional world of fine tailoring with the distinctly forward thinking attitude of Thom Brown’s Black Fleece collections. Ceramics and references to office stationary of the 1940s are reinterpreted in a thoroughly modern way. A zip-strip on the secondary packaging tears off to remove all graphics, revealing a pure white inner box, containing layers of cut-out felt and fabric used in suit-making, cushioned around the bottle.” (dieline)

Superfuture reports in with news that Brook Brother’s spin-off label, Black Fleece, will be opening doors to a new shop in Tokyo this coming August. “The label, designed by Thom Browne, will solely feature its men’s collection there. the new 86 sqm. store will be located at the omotesando hills mall on hyperprestigious omotesando ori. Location: 4-12-10 jingumae.”

Since we like very much the designer Thom Browne, we obviously also appreciate his range for Brooks Brothers under the Black Fleece label. Today we came across a fantastic piece out of the new Spring/Summer 2009 Collection – the rugby shirt. This might be the smartest looking ruby shirt that we have seen to date.
