curated mag - V&A bookshop

Over the weekend the V&A opened their first ever dedicated book shop. Located in South Kensington, not far from the museum itself, the shop is designed with the student and enthusiast in mind. Think a full range of art and design with all the theory one might need thrown in. The space was designed with aid from Vitsoe, who’ve got an eye for shelving. (via Wallpaper*).

The Big Fat Duck Cookbook

Heston Blumenthal is, well, a pretty awesome chef. His Fat Duck restaurant gets rave reviews, and his television programs for BBC are basically a thinking mans version of Food Network’s Good Eats (which, to be fair, is a smart show in its own right). The Big Fat Duck Cookbook offers some background on Blumenthal and some recipes that those of us less brilliant behind the stove top may find difficult. That said, if you like food and its history, the tome should be a winner. (via Daily Icon)

Well Read Facades

library facade promotion Well Read Facades

The good people of Kansas City chose books that represented their city. Then the spines of those books were translated into the facade of the public library’s parking lot. Without singing wild praise, this is just a good idea. A close second to Arthur Bryant’s in the stakes to be KC’s greatest place.

Thanks to Crooked Brains for the heads up, they found a similar project in the works in Wales too.
