For some reason, the ‘I’ve had this for years’ worn-in look is one that’s always desired in shoes. It may be because while trainers look best new, new shoes look a little stiff and rigid – giving off a whiff of ‘I only bought these because my workplace didn’t like my battered vans’. These MARSéll ankle boots have the worn in look but because they’re tan, they’ll still age with the wearer. They’ve also got great brougeing details, which gives the shoe a unique look. Fans of Yohji Yamamoto may find the following three boots something to talk about (Badly Drawn Boy reference). The YY boots come in either black canvas or military leather, with the latter including a nice zip-up, The third boot is almost a sneaker like boot with its high-top baseballer silhouette. When talking about a 6inch boot, most people think right away about Timberland. As much as we appreciate the Timberland 6inch boot, we prefer what Alden created for Japanese retailer Beams+. The Alden 6inch boot comes in a nice light brown and in black leather with a nice leather/gum outer sole. The construction of Alden on a nice and functional winter boot is perfect for the colder months of the year.

Browns just got in a new pair of Balenciaga boots. The at first classic looking bootscome with a shiny toecap that reminds us of rain boots. The boots can be worn smart and casual. One needs at least one good pair of boots for the winter and these are a good start.

We have shown you already a nice line-up of boots this season, but most of them were more casual and to go with your favorite denim. The Alden Cordovan Lace Boots are somewhat more dressy, while still being casual. 

We have always appreciated the high standard of craftsmanship involved in Alden footwear, which is also present in the Cordovan. The waxed laces look great as well, and they go nicely with a suite, but also with a pair of chinos.

Dr. Martens take a fresh look at two of their models with their "Made in Monochrome" series for Fall/Winter 2008/09. Feature two shoes from the 1460 series – an 8 eyelet boot and a 3 eyelet shoe – the "Made in Monochrome" series striped the silhouettes down to their bare essentials and provide very clean and wearable looks. The all white 1460 8 eyelet is just damn good. Avaiable in two weeks from oki-ni.

With the beginning of Fall and the colder months ahead, one has to start thinking about some quality boots, as sneakers and boat shoes will not do it anymore once it gets wet outside.

We came across these new Autumn/Winter 2008 boots today, by Japanese label Shapel. Available in three colors, all featuring a leather sole, these are just perfect for the times ahead. Not boring, but very solid and fitting pretty much any outfit.

Oak got a new shipment of Rachel Comey shoes in. The Derringer Oxford right awayjumped into the eyes. A really nice brown tone upper and then the contrasting wooden sole, make an overall great looking shoe.

After the jump we show you the Black Hazard Boots, which also do not look too shabby. 

Some great looks in footwear from Paris’ Surface to Air. Featuring five looks – three shoes and two boots. All five are very classic looks made from the high grade leathers and perfect wears for just about any occasion requiring a nice fall pea coat (for starters).
