Hermes New Paris Boutique

Dezeen brings us looks inside Hermes new Paris boutique designed by the RDAI agency. “French architects RDAI have completed this new Paris boutique for fashion brand Hermès inside a 1930s swimming pool building. Hèrmes Rive Gauche features three nine-metre high wooden pavilions made of ash laths, each housing the Hèrmes collections. A fourth wooden structure lines the staircase leading visitors from the entrance into the former pool.” A very natural feel to the finish – and beautiful of course.

Selectism - Moncler Opens Shanghai Boutique

Moncler continues to open boutique doors in new markets outside of Europe. Following up on their Hong Kong shop, which complemented their London, Milan, and Paris shops. “Designed by the Gilles & Boissier architecture studio, the Shanghai boutique in Plaza 66 covers an area of 130 m² and recalls the DNA of the Moncler brand in its conception, whilst at the same time giving it a contemporary-luxury twist… Two large windows open into the Moncler world, emphasised by French panelling in carved wood with floral relief motifs. It is a welcoming look which is in stark contrast with the glass used for the central counter and the pierre bleu used for the walls and floor.”

Malin + Goetz has opened the doors on their third boutique and their second in New York City. The Upper West Side digs for the new Malin + Goetz space misex “neoclassical walnut panels salvaged from a demolished Long Island mansion” against “clinical white counters” as seen in their Chelsea store. “The store stands on the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and 82nd Street, which is known locally as ‘le gran esquina’ (the big corner).  As this space was previously occupied by a Puerto Rican barbershop, Malin+Goetz have retained the original barbershop sign, in tribute to the location’s heritage.” (wallpaper*)
