Caputo & Co. offer a selection of men’s bags and accessories that fit into almost any outfit. While I still firmly believe that the only wrist adornment a man needs is a wristwatch, there is space for those that prefer to drop a bracelet here and there. Forget the fish hook for a while. Everyone’s on that (then again they are also on the braided knot ropes as well). Caputo & Co. offer wovens and knots on arm bands, belts, and more. Interesting pairing of items from Sweden’s DFTS Factory: an ashtray and a ladies bracelet. We’re showing you both because, at first, we took the bracelet for the ashtray. Impressive construction on the piece of jewelry, which is built from 2,208 individual plastic links—a process that takes four hours and yields the feel of a textile.

As for the ashtray, it is a stunner, though we certainly will not be taking up smoking to accommodate it. Pity though, the piece is designed to let an average cigarette “rest safely in its recesses … four pits, sculpted so that ash will not be easily scooped up and scattered by gusts of wind.” Happily, the designer, Richard Hutten, wholly approves of using it to present sauces, spices or mixed nuts.

I could go and show you many of the wonderful new bags from Montreal’s WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie, including a new all-Japan produced document holder/wallet/passport holder selection… but we’ll revisit those at a later time (closer to their arrival). For now, I stick to a pair of zip-flat slippers and bracelets made from the same leathers and  zippers found on the WANT Les Essentiels bags. The zip-flat slippers are easy and the image tells the whole story. If you by chance fall into a hotel with no house slippers for use, pull these out of your packaway for a comfortable walk on tile or carpet. The bracelets are even easier: thrown one on to compliment your day look.

The cloth braided bracelets from Barrett Alley takes its style from the Japanese Meji period of the early 20th century. Fabric on this modern version is hand woven and naturally dyed to give it a rich color. Russet cowhide and antique bone button closure finish it off nicely. They’re made in Texas in case that is important to some.

The company makes and distributes many leather accessories from camera cases to leather totes the company makes some amazing pieces. The gentleman at Union offer their new adjustable bracelets in tan and black with a silver stud closure.

Go right for the real thing with Margiela’s brass “balance” bracelets (kidding, they’re not balance bands). “They are made from solid brass and available in two distinctive finishes, old matte gold and white with blue scuffed paint effects. Here’s a great skull bracelet from Tobias Wistisen. It is made from 925 silver, bronze & copper on cotton cord and features silver fastening. It is handmade of course and will complement your watch free wrist. In proper circumstances, it would work better than a timepiece. Goodhood has them.
