Bally “Comi” Brogue Shoe

16 February 2012, 22.00 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

bally 1 Bally Comi Brogue Shoe
Another day, another brogue. But wait, this “Comi” brogue from Bally Switzerland’s Commodore Collection has a lightweight rubber outsole made using the Goodyear welt process, and comes with the promise of enhanced durability and breath-ability, making for a truly all-season piece of footwear (not unlike a certain tire). The detailing is spot-on and we would be psyched indeed to run all over town on these soles.

Grenson for Barbour Marske Brogue

grenson barbour brogue shoe mens 1 Grenson for Barbour Marske Brogue

We’ll tell you that Grenson is still very much an in-house favorite, as is Barbour. Sure, the world (including us) have pushed and hyped both brands well beyond either company’s idea of placement, but do the two work together well? Do Barbour textiles work against the Grenson brogue? We think so. The thick welted brogue works. Three other styles from this small collection including a derby boot and wingtip shoe are coming soon.

selectism - Lodger Footwear Burlington Country Brogue

We’ve seen a fair share of wingtips over the last year, so it takes a little for one to stand out. Lodger looks to the mountains for this shoe, the Burlington Country Brogue, which features a split commando sole and classic hooks for the lacing. Match those elements with a near perfect brown and you’ve got something special for the damp seasons.

The Burlington Country Brogue is being offered through April 30, 2011.

Grenson Archie Brogue

Selectism - grenson-archie

Those on the lookout for a brogue could do a lot worse than this ‘Archie’ brogue from Grenson. The company have just opened their online shop and we’re pleased to report that it’s far better than some other online shoe stores. We’re looking at you, Church’s. This is great for the folks who like their shoes to give a bit of a boost – although it’d be smart to get a rubber sole insert to save you any impromptu James Brown tributes in the rain. (Grenson)

Lodger Footwear Country Brogue

02 March 2010, 17.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - Lodger Footwear Country Brogue

Unquestionably the most on trend of any of “Shoe of the Month” from Lodger Footwear, the Country Brogue comes in black leather with a chunky commander sole. Lodger’s version of the Country Brogue has been a personal favorite since before Lodger truly opened its doors (a shoe introduced through a collaborative effort with Real Real Genuine). In shoe form, the Brogue gives life to the model for warmer months. The waist of the shoe is hand-painted and the is finished with a storm welt, both hallmarks of Lodger’s attention to detail.

Only available this month (March, 2010), the Country Brogue will be made exclusively for you at a cost of 400 quid.

Grenson for ASOS Patent Brogue

07 August 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - grenson-asos-patent-brogue

We’ve gotta admit, we were getting a little tired of collaborations. They’re great when they’re the perfect match of two companies expertise, not so great when it’s just collaborating for the sake of it. So we were as surprised as anyone when we saw just how good Grenson’s collaboration with ASOS turned out.

Part of ASOS’s upcoming ‘Best of British’ collection, these patent brogues are one of four shoes Grenson made with the online retailer. There’s another shoe that we’ll be putting up on Monday, but for now just marvel at just how patent-y these shoes are (you can even see a reflection of a laptop on the toe).
