Some interesting watches were seen on the Burberry Prorsum Runways during their Spring 2009 shows. The watches featured military inspired dials with a multistrap that wrapped around the wrist. The Swiss made watches for Burberry are now available on the UK market. Available in antique palladium or gold finish with leather strapping, the two wristwatches are priced around 325-395£ respectively.

Pulling further from the Burberry archive comes this collection of sunglasses for Summer 2009. “For men, new modern styles include acetate double bridge wrapped sunglasses with an engraved check plaque across the bridge and temple…The colour palette for the eyewear includes degradé neutral earth tones mirroring pieces in the ready-to-wear collections as well as black, brown and bark.”

Burberry continue their forays into attracting the younger customer with this new denim collection. It’s not the first time they’ve had a denim collection, but this the first collection that looks specifically geared towards a more trend-led customer. The collection includes a light wash jean called ‘vintage blue’, another version of the light wash called ‘air force one’ and the usual navy wash.

We have to admit that Burberry is stepping it up on the casual wear front for this Spring. “Building on its heritage of fabric innovation and development, the Burberry sport collection includes technical performance-enhancing fabrics including waterproof nylon laminates, bonded nylon windproof jersey, shower-proof nylon, superfine piqué, featherweight nylon corduroy ripstop, silk jersey and breathable nylon jersey.”

Bringing their British sensibility to the men’s accessories market, Burberry offers some distinct and attractive looks for the gentleman of the world for Spring/Summer 2009. Modern features have been added to the bags – functional pockets for mobile phones and MP3s player as well as colors that remain easy to the eye. Look for tans, chocolate, and stone shades on alligator, leather, and canvas.

Burberry’s Spring 2009 collection are starting to filter into their online store and as usual, their coats are their strongest feature. This single breasted coat has a sateen finish which gives it a sheen and doesn’t absorb rain. The colour is officially called ‘pewter’ but we’d just call it grey. As you’d expect for a Burberry trench, the price is a little steep, but they’re definitely worth the money. Get it from Burberry’s site.

The recession has forced companies to watch their like-for-like sale like it was a Hip-Hop album in its first week. This has ultimately lead to some cost cutting procedures as labels look to only keep profitable arms of their label. Drapers reports that Burberry is shutting down its diffusion line, Thomas Burberry. There’s no word on which collection will be its last but it can be assumed that S/S09 will be its last season.

The A/W 09 shows have been predictably gloomy, with coats and jackets mostly going the way of grey. So why not get a head start with this Burberry wool overcoat? While the mix of black and white weave isn’t exactly grey, it sure looks grey from a distance. It’s on sale as well, but you can still expect to pay a good amount for it. Get it from Burberry.

The pound’s getting weaker by the day, so there’s been no better time to shop in England if your local currency is dollars or euros. Another good reason is Burberry’s Knightsbridge store, which has undergone a recent makeover utilising the company’s storied history.
