Holy shit. These would have swept up on our list of 10 shoes that can roll sockless. Part boat shoe, part espadrille, crepe sole … lordy. Buttero rarely stumbles in its quest for quality and creativity and these dogs are taking a flying leap. “[With] deep colored vegetable tanned leathers and suedes on the uppers, the shoes have crepe rubber soles, braided rope trimming at the sides and red, navy and yellow color welt running on the outside.”

What more can we say? Made in Italy? Por Vocação has them.

Few have manage to execute the ripple sole with such style as the folks at Yuketen. Go ahead, see what we mean. Buttero have taken a fair crack at it though with this raised top boat shoe. Available in China blue (which we’re not so keen on) and a charcoal suede, the Italian company has made use of the Vibram Gumlite sole; light, durable and perfect for summer. (SB)

Part of Buttero’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection are these handsome four-eyed, round-toed derby shoes. Leather-soled fancies, these come in two colorways—taupe suede and black leather—each made with a different vegetable-tanned leather. Amazing what a difference a pair of pinking shears makes. This collab between Italian shoemaker Buttero and British online “sneaker boutique” Offspring keeps it simple, making a few simple tweaks to their classic-looking Tanino sneaker. Most noticeable is that zig-zagged edging around the toe-cap and heel collar. The round leather laces are another nice touch, as is the leather footbed, making for an incredibly austere but also playful pair of shoes. These puppies will be available in two colorways—petrol blue and deep maroon—through Offspring’s site and their London retail outlet come spring.

Buttero should be on everyone’s radar. The Italian shoe and sneaker maker, season after season, delivers some of our favorite modern takes on classic trainer and shoe silhouettes, accented in the most premium of leathers. The looks stand out on any display versus other makers. The high-top basketball leather sneaker remains outstanding – scratch that – every shoe in this collection is outstanding. Portugal’s Por Vocacao showcases their “flowing window display” through this calming video. The wind chime is a wonderful bonus. Features Buttero boots, ACNE jacket, Fallero Sarti scarf.

It’s like a Euros clash of sorts. A battle which many of my close Italo friends would love to witness on the pitch but alas, this is a loving collaboration. Italy’s Buttero works with Portuguese boutique, Por Vocação on a pair of derby shoes which should remain off the pitch. Buttero has an almost Japanese-like obsession with a perfect finished product. The leathers and stitching always look exceptionally clean. We’re assuming these derby shoes will be no different. Made from vegetable tanned horse leathers, the shoes are available in three colorways: taupe, dark brown and black, as well as greased finish takes on uppers of the latter. Distinct. Por Vocacao produced this video snippet of their time spent in Italy with the Buttero shoe line. “With a big tradition in making quality shoes and wide appreciation in Japan, we wanted to know what was hidden behind the brand so, after rounding up a small crew, packing up some gear and our socks, we set off to Italy. Once there, we discovered much more than mere shoe manufacturing, as Buttero stands for a family, not only in the strict sense but as a whole.”

Hikers have been here for centuries. We just get them in super premium takes in the modern age.
