Calabrese started life as a tie brand. The namesake of Napoli born Eugene Calabrese, time and new blood (in the form of his son Francesco) transformed the brand into the more multi-faceted operation we have today. Bags entered the fray in the 1960s, and currently include a nice array – from duffel to wash bags.

Here, we are highlighting the Doctors Bag. Available in navy or brown canvas, with leather trim, it is a solid size for weekend getaways. Or, we suppose, for playing doctor… if people still get away with doing that.

We’re noted fans of the backpack. We still like our totes, messengers and briefcases, but backpacks are really floating our boats these days. So here’s another one for you (or us) to add to the team. It’s a simple but effective style, taking the vintae feel that most want from a rucksack and updating it with some heavy duty canvas and useful compartments. We wouldn’t want to carry too much in it though, we’re pretty sure the ropes would really dig in after a while. (Oi Polloi)
