Pentax K-01 Camera - Designed by Marc Newson

Marc Newson touches everything. His latest design work is in the form of a camera with the launch of the Pentax K-01 interchangeable lens system digital camera. The Pentax K-01 features 16 mega pixels of love, the ability to shoot 1080p at 30fps (you get a full 60fps at 720p), and the ability to use any Pentax K-mount lens. The ISO runs the range from 100 through 25,600 is is out of control if you ask me. Pentax say the K-01 camera Pentax K 01 Camera Designed by Marc Newson shoots “gorgeous noise-free imaging in any lighting condition.”

The real win for those who only care about how much eye-candy they can chew out of their camera-neckwear is the choice of colors: Newson yellow if the big one but for those who prefer black or white or both, you have those options as well. Those hungry for the Pentax K-01 can pre-order now online for $899 Pentax K 01 Camera Designed by Marc Newson.

The Impossible Project, Holden SX-70 Polaroid Kit

impossible project holden sx70 polaroid kit6 The Impossible Project, Holden SX 70 Polaroid Kit

Polaroid film was of course great for road trips and parties, but it was crucial in the bedroom—allowing us instant gratification with our red photography and eliminating the hassle of trying to get quality prints discretely. In 2010, The Impossible Project—staffed by former Polaroid employees—filled the void left behind when their former employer shuttered its doors and windows by offering online access to leftover Polaroid film as well as their own Impossible Instant Films that work in Polaroid cameras. Now TIP has teamed up with Holden, makers of pragmatically tailored outerwear, to bring us Holden-branded Polaroid camera kits.

Primed for August release, the special edition kits will take the form of a handcrafted wooden box bearing a leather camera bag, a pack of limited edition Holden X Impossible PX70 Color Shade film, and a custom Holden Polaroid SX-70 camera. Enthusiasts will remember the SX-70 as the one that folds down to fit in a pocket … or a small nightstand. - jt

The new Leica V-Lux 3 Camera

Germany’s famed camera maker, Leica, has announced the release of their new Leica V-Lux 3 compact digital camera; coming this January 2012. All the hype on the new Leica revolves around the super telephoto lens on the unit. Using the Leica DC “Vario-Elmarit” 4.5 – 108 mm,  f/2.8 – 5.2, 24-fold super-telephoto zoom lens the V-Lux 3 range of focal lengths is equivalent to 25–600 mm in 35 mm format. Impressive for a small body unit.
