Slightly early, we know, for a full look, but Italy’s CAMO could not resist sharing. As we mentioned from Pitti, the new CAMO collection works around the “Casino” theme based around those all important chips.

CAMO’s “Casino Collection” asks for you to “bet on yourself.” The four main colors of casino chips influence more than 100 garments in the collection – their largest collection yet. Be it a card game inside your home, pub, or casino, CAMO reminds us that risk is important.

After our look at forthcoming Maharishi A/W 2012 collection via our Pitti coverage, we return to more recent collections with Spring Summer 2012. Of course, camo is their mainstay and while future collections look to be expanding beyond their trademark print, it’s still what they do best. These pieces; parka, bomber, scarf, shorts and tote are made from recycled WW2 parachute cloth.

The same fabric had actually been used as part of an exhibition of artist Hardy Blechman’s work shown at London’s Riflemaker gallery. Garments with a few stories to tell. Find it online.

Maharishi brings back their blues for Autumn/Winter 2012, in a collection that is sure to get people talking again about the U.K. based maker who does mil-spec inspirational clothing better than most. For those that have passed on Maharishi in recent season, we strongly urge you take a fresh look (and it goes beyond their camo).

In some regards, the collection may be seen as over-engineered, with garments that serve a multitude of functions including a pull-over weather proof coat that converts into a bag when zipped (photos do not do it justice), as well as bombers that go well beyond their design specs. But that is what will keep Maharishi garments around for as long as the classics that inspire them. This stuff is built for the end of the world. Think we’re excited? If you history of street fashion going back as far as you can remember (for me that would be the 80’s), camo/DPM patterns have always been there. No matter where you lay – be it street-wear or the high end… camo remains a re-played device of the fashion world. It has not come and gone as a trend; the patterns, while re-worked and re-imagined, have remained  almost seasonal. Is there another pattern in fashion that retains such high/low appeal (and please don’t say stripes)?

While many will look at the “heritage” tagline against any brand with a raised brow in 2011, one cannot deny that a dash of camouflage seems to reset opinions. Take these pants from the Carhartt Heritage Autumn Winter 2011 collection: the simple chino breathes again with out much work. They bring that little boost of freshness to lines in the middle of their autumn and winter offerings; specially tailored for the holiday shopper needing to bring the new to the gifting. Camo tends to divide people and we fully understand that many of you wouldn’t touch it with a barge-pole. The fear that you’ll end up looking like some sort of urban, new world order vigilante is present in all of us. However, YMC has a particular knack of making the seemingly unwearable, wearable. Various elements of military have been present in the majority of their past collections, and while this camo shirt certainly isn’t subtle, if you’re a fan of layering up it’s a great way to make friends with camouflage without entering into a serious relationship with it.
