Candles. Everyone likes them. They make your house smell nice and are the perfect visual symbol that you’re not a Versace blue jeans wearing teenager anymore. This candle even has the word ‘bougie’ in the title, which makes it both menswear-y and reminiscent of ’90s neo-soul (to our bizarre minds, at least). Baxter comes through with a new series from their “White Wood” collection of soy based waxed candles. Three new scents make up the series: “Patchouli, Vetiver, Oak Moss, Liquid Amber, Rum,” “Bergamot, Mandarin, Mission Fig, Santalum, Vetiver” and “Birch Tar, Leather, Guaiac Wood, Rosemary Oil, Cedar.”

After an initial Holiday release, Atelier Maison Mallon is back with a new series of candles. The CRISTAL ‘Classic Edition’ offers two new scents, Jacob and Samuel. While the first ones were more Christmas oriented scents, these are good for the entire year around. Yet thankfully the brand sticks to their vintage cristal glasses, which really sets them apart from everything else out there. The candles are now available from Soto.

Today we passed by the new Cire Trudon flagship store on Bond Street in New York City. The centuries old brand from Paris will be opening the new retail store this week and is showcasing its entire range of candles in it. While we have plenty of high end candle makers in the market place today, Cire Trudon really makes their product look like art.

We’re fans of this candle – well, as much a fan as you can be of a candle – for three reasons. 1) It smells nice 2) It’s cheap (£3.50) and 3) There’s more than a little nod to the Monocle X CDG candle. It’s essentially a very cheap way to get your Monocle on. (Muji)

Opening Ceremony released a series of candles with an Olympic theme. Named after past locations of the Olympics such as Munich 1972, LA 1984, and Nagano 1998, the candles come scented is a variety of tastes that are appealing and soft. Available via Blackbird.
