Workers May Collection – Dots, Wabash & Canvas

Workers May 2012 01 Workers May Collection Dots, Wabash & Canvas

Always returning to Workers, K&TH – a small scale operation from Takashi Tateno based in Kurashiki, Japan. The collection moves around the same themes of classic American workwear so don’t expect to see future-leggings or ‘directional wardrobing’ anytime soon. For May Wabash fabric returns in a smart vest and railway jacket, alongside a heavy canvas tote, polka dot shirt and parachute trousers.

A slim body makes this backpack feel neat rather than clunky whilst still offering up plenty of room. Porter and Yoshida branded fixtures, top handle and mobile phone pouch. The Superior Labor Khaki Canvas Tote

superior labor tote 02 The Superior Labor Khaki Canvas Tote

We’ve always enjoyed the contributions of The Superior Labor to the tool bag movement. This Khaki version of their Engineer Bag is no exception. The Japanese company make a range of accessories but their carriers remain the star of the show. The large natural leather pocket on the front makes this one, matching handle and a detachable cross body strap mean it can be thrown over your shoulder for hands-free moments. The painted base finishes it off perfectly, nice one The Superior Labor. Find it at Slow down Joe.

‘Shoes Like Pottery’ – Kiln Baked Canvas Sneakers

02 March 2012, 16.00 | Posted in Fashion, Shoes | 2 comments »

Shoes-Like-Pottery-02

Yeah, a bit novelty heavy. We would’ve passed ‘Shoes like Pottery‘ if they didn’t look so canvas-ey good. There’s not a great deal to these. The rubber soles are baked on in a kiln, they’re handmade in Kurume, Japan and stockist South Willard point out that the production process on the sole makes for a more flexible and durable shoe. The look is a raw, stripped back pair of Converse with a slightly more interesting texture to the fabric. Black, indigo and white – we’d be happy with whichever. Thanks to Ready for the House for the heads up.

expedition bag 01 North Sea Clothing Holdall

North Sea continue their march to accessory glory with another addition to the collection. A simple canvas holdall with a nautical feel (well, it’s trimmed with navy), they have enlisted the skills of a long established Belgian craftsman.

Using leather from English tannery Sedgwicks, everything is constructed by a small saddlery firm. As with all things from this label, expect sturdy, hard-wearing goodness with this carrier – those rubber handles mean business. More at North Sea.

TOMS Canvas Desert Boots

toms canvas deseet boots 7 TOMS Canvas Desert Boots

TOMS is known for doing some great things, especially their “One for One” deal: for every pair of TOMS shoes that are purchased, the company donates one pair of shoes to a child in need. When it comes to kids, we all need to do our best to assist the future. We’ve been walking and working in the TOMS desert boots for some a minute and while they may not be the most styled of footwear, the casual comfort of the lightweight finish has made then pleasant to wear. The outsole is very bare, keeping you low to the ground with an almost barefoot appeal. As for the price point, they will not break the bank. Worth a look if you are hunting for the bare essentials in a shoe.
