Hermes for smart fortwo Automobile

19 November 2008, 17.35 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

hermes smart fortwo automobile car front Hermes for smart fortwo Automobile

It’s almost a measure of extremes. When Hermes worked with Buggati on a custom Veyron Fbg not too long ago, they must have been thinking about the gas mileage which the super car burned. In turn they then worked with Citreon on the classic 2CV6, which was also not the most efficient vehicle of its time. To combat both guzzlers, Hermes has now worked over the smart fortwo.

The interior of the smart fortwo is lined in a special canvas called Toile H. Autoblog mentions, “On the inside, the Hermes signature orange is a nice color option, as are nine others including indigo, gold, lime and, uh, pink. High fashion never comes cheap, and the Hermes Smart is no exception coming in at $48,500 in U.S. dollars or 38,000 euros and on sale now in both hardtop and convertible versions.”

BMW Shape-Shifting Concept Car | GINA

11 June 2008, 18.40 | Posted in Other | No comments »

selectism - bmw shape shifting car

BMW have unveiled their concept car GINA which rethinks the notion of an external hard shell. The body is made from a seamless polyurethane-coated Lycra fabric stretched over a moveable aluminum frame allowing the owner to change the car’s shape. Purely conceptual, there is no intention of this technology ever going into production.

GINA (Geometry and functions In ‘N’ Adaptions) has been in development for six years, the working model is built on a Z8 chassis and has four panels which take about two hours to put on. Via Core77.

An interesting concept and hopefully something that will see the light of day in some form. Because GINA actually doesn’t look bad at all. How safe this prototype is, is another question!

Selectism - Bugatti Veyron Fbg for Hermes

We’ve been waiting for good photos of the interior of this soon to be legend of a vehicle. Take the world’s street legal car, add in some of touches of Hermes and you have arguably a new top teir in automotive luxury.

As noted in their press release, the Bugatti “Fbg par Hermes” is “the culmination of… extreme attention to aesthetic and technological quality and performance.”

The complexity and detail of this offering is a laundry list long, but for starters, note the door handles which are based on the forms of Hermes’ trunk handles and the dash which is usually adorned in brushed metal is lined entirely in calf skin. Looking on the outside, the air vents around the rims have the characteristic appearance of Hermes saddle-stitching.

Many more views after the jump.

Want to see the Bugatti Veyron push the limits on a closed road track? Watch this.
