A relaxed take on the shawl collar cardigan from Daiki Suzuki’s Engineered Garments, the kind of thing you throw on for a chilly Spring/Summer day. A light cotton and linen mix put together in NYC, the perfect cardigan/jacket compromise. Find it here.

Comme des Garcons Camo Print Cardigan

comme des garcons camo cardigan 1 Comme des Garcons Camo Print Cardigan
A handsome and delightfully quizzical cardigan, this jobber from Comme des Garcons looks incredibly soft more than anything else. That is a credit to not only the Merino wool, but also the muted green, blue and browns that make up the camouflage print.

We would be happy working this into an outfit, but almost happier wearing it with some sweatpants on a Sunday morning as its indubitable softness gives it the air of a pajama shirt, which is not a slight. Available at Oki-Ni.

Beams Plus – Linen Shawl Collar Cardigan

17 February 2012, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Beams Navy Cardigan 01 Beams Plus Linen Shawl Collar Cardigan

This is quite something. A linen cardigan with a neat little shawl collar from the wise folk at Beams Plus. The choice of linen over wool gives it a light, open weave, elevating it above the hoards of similar items on shelves at the moment. Created using the ‘Whole Knit’ technique, this just gets better when you hear that the whole piece is seamless. Two waist pockets, wooden buttons (a smaller one at the neck) and ribbed cuffs and sleeves, one of the most well executed pieces of knitwear we’ve seen in quite some time. Find it at Oi Polloi.

Paul Smith ss12 cardigan1 Paul Smith Heavy Knit Yellow Cardigan

Big bright cardigan action from Paul Smith. This isn’t a big bird kind of yellow. It’s not a weak post-it note kind of yellow. This is a smooth mustard yellow. seh donegal cardi 01 S.E.H Kelly Donegal Wool Cardigan

We have strong feelings towards Donegal wool. We can’t hide it anymore. Perhaps it’s that flecked effect we cannot get enough of our maybe we enjoy the warm feeling you get inside knowing this wool has been spun by expert craftsman in picturesque County Donegal itself. SEH have taken this incredible yarn and made a simple, minimalist cardigan that lets the key ingredient do the talking.

Stephan Schneider Hairs Cardigan

Selectism - stephan-schneider-cardigan-01

Is it just us or are the sales beginning much earlier this year? Most of them started up in late november instead of the usual January sale. Maybe they’re getting a jump on those folks who avoid pulling the trigger finger in december. Maybe the sheer amount of stores selling the same or very similar goods has gotten to be too much to the consumer. Whatever the reason you can find this Stephan Schneider at a knocked off price, which is a good thing. The fact that you can buy it from the store which was mentioned in “How to Make it in America” is an added bonus. South Willard has it.

Woolrich John Rich & Bros. – Pre Autumn/Winter 2012

Woolrich John Rich & Bros - Pre Autumn/Winter 2012

The Woolrich John Rich & Bros. collection gives us a mighty jump on their forthcoming pre-Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. Talk about being early to market – we don’t mind. The “Makes and Tradesmen” collection is a reference to the “makers,” like John Rich himself, who opened the door in Pennsylvania to manufacturing. “Tradesmen” thanks those in careers like carpentry, shoemaking, tailoring that kept the men properly clothed. Fans fo the John Rich & Bros. collection will find further re-boots of classic forms including conductor vests and chore jackets that use “a strong fall palette of muted colors mixed with tweed, suede, canvas and twill.” Fabrication is the game here from Woolrich John Rich & Bros for Autumn 2011.
