Benjamin Hubert Coracle Lounge Chair

It might be because we’ve just seen that ‘Inside Havana’ book the other day, but we’re liking the look of this sunny looking lounge chair. We imagine sitting in it in a sun kissed vila while writing words that would rival Hemingway. In reality we’d be sitting in it in a small apartment and writing words that Hemingway would fight us over. Although we imagine Hemingway used most things as an excuse to fight. (De La Espada)

Ok, so we’re trying to find a reason to buy this chair. We might take up fishing, that could definitely happen. What if we get really tired whilst walking around the Louvre, I mean that’s a possibility right? Does sitting in your garden, no tent, for like an hour constitute camping? Actually, by purchasing this very attractive folding chair we have no use for we are stimulating the economy and helping bring this catastrophic worldwide recession to an end. Let’s head over to Oki-ni and do our bit for mankind.

Klassiker Lounge Chair

Selectism - klassiker-chair-01

Our love for chairs and shelves continues. This time it’s the Klassiker lounge chair, which was designed to ‘hug’ the back and behind of whoever’s sitting in it. It also looks good, which helps. See more of it after the leap. (Yanko Design)

TOKEN Lounge

We’d bet that right now some terrible brand is annoyed we’re showing off a chair instead of their goods:

“With their Lounge chair, TOKENnyc evokes the late 50s/early 60s Gotham high style. The cantilevered wooden frame is fitted with felted wool and cashmere upholstered cushions, melding sophisticated lines with a historical reverence.”

Studio Nucleo Presenze Part II Chair

We’re all about chairs now:

“Designed by Studio Nucleo, the Presenze collection channels the glories of nineteenth-century Baroque through minimalistic resin shapes. The furniture, which includes consoles, desks, and bedside tables, is highlighted by terrific chairs. These have great presence, and through material manage to hold the physicality of the Baroque without maintaining the style’s weight.”

Anon Pairot’s Pencil Chair

Selectism - pencil-chair-02-curatedmagCurated turns us onto this:

“Being left handed, using an pencil presents some smudgy problems. However, using pencils to make a chair doesn’t have such issue, and that’s exactly what designer Anon Pairot has done. His chair utilizes more pencils than I can count and is rather successful in form too.”

Here’s something else from Curated:

“A partnership between Kristalia and Neuland Industriedesign studio, this dynamic chair was originally produced in 2010. Made with either a hide upholstered seat or in polyurethane, the Elephant Chair is available with either solid beech legs or on a swivel base.”

Chair D by Kako.Ko Design

Selectism - kako-ko-chair-d-01

Yanko Design has the news on what they deem the ‘perfect small apartment chair’. This Kako.Ko creation has a felt upper that can be folded so the chair goes from armchair to footrest in record time. We hate to throw salt, but the chair doesn’t look that comfy, although we imagine bigger cushions would make it impossible to fold.

Studio Job officially unveiled the Gothic Chair, produced by Dutch Furniture firm Moooi, at Milan Design Week 2011. The form is derived from a 16th-century side chair and made now with contemporary molding and in an orgy of colors. Another inventive take on seating from Studio Job.
