Perks & Mini Check Shirt

You know what we’re into? Pieces like this. It’s a little nuts, a little all over the place and therefore blog worthy. And in the age of people wishing they dressed like 1930’s factory workers, it’s also a rare joy. What raises this above the flood of other check shirts at the moment is the panel detailing, which make two gameboy-esque ‘+’ signs on the front. There’s even invisible zip pockets for the folks who like carrying something in their shirts – although we wouldn’t carry anything heavy in them. And, more importantly, it’ll bring some life to a chambray’ed out wardrobe. (Goodhood)

Uniforms For The Dedicated ‘Mad Hatter’ Check Shirt

selectism - uniforms-for-the-dedicated-checked-shirt-01

We have stated our boredom with check shirts before, but it’s hard to deny a piece when it’s done like this. More of an overshirt than something you’d wear under a cardigan, this Uniforms piece is quirky enough to catch our attention. We love our ‘classics’, really we do, but sometimes we feel that people are just too scared to take a risk. Our advice? go on, take a chance. You might like it. And if not, just don’t wear it. That’s the beauty of clothing. (Fever)

Detailed shots after straight after that leap.

Cosmic Wonder Light Source Check Shirt

Selectism - Cosmic Wonder Light Source Check Shirt

We might as well give up the fight – check shirts are here to stay. This is the first season we’ve seen the shirt referred to as a staple, which is short hand for ‘they keep on selling, so we’ll keep on making them’. So we might as well start finding the best ones. This Cosmic Wonder Light Source shirt is just colourful enough for our liking – we’re not planning on running any towns, so the all black everything look isn’t for us. (Mindtrive)

Take a look at the more subdued version after the leap.

Journal Standard Short-Sleeved Check Shirt

To be honest, we thought check shirts would have been dead by now. But due to the fact that designers finally worked out how to make a good check pattern, they’ve been going for far longer than any trend ought to. This Journal Standard shirt is a great example of why checks haven’t gone away – when a shirt is this nice how can you say no? unless of course the only method of purchase was befriending a Japanese person and begging them to send it to you. Get it if you can from Style Cruise.

Check after the jump for detailed pictures and styling shots – let it be noted that for the first time ever, we don’t like the styling.

A nice piece of picnic camouflage from the great 45rpm Japan line. This red check gauze shirt is made from double lined organic cotton and includes a single check pocket. The gauze name comes from the weaving technique in the garment that gives it a slightly stretchy feel. Super soft and ready to wear.
