Haversack Loose Chinos

Haversack Loose Chinos

Haversack have never been ones to keep things slim and here they are again, showing us the way forward with these wide leg, loose fit chinos. We like the Olive variety, military feel without all the unnecessary pockets and tabs. Herringbone cotton twill, minimal in terms of detail. A no-fuss pair of trousers. Good stuff.

Left Field Chino Collection for Spring 2011

23 March 2011, 18.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Left Field Chino Collection for Spring 2011

Left Field produces some of the strongest chinos on the market. What makes them tops is their twills. For Spring 2011, they deliver four styles: “Japanese khaki twill (made from the same heavy-duty cotton twill used to make Japanese military garments), one organic olive twill, and two enzyme-washed organic cotton canvas models. Details are the same four all four pairs, and they include a Corozo button fly, front coin pocket, on-seam side pockets, buttoned back pockets.” We love the chambray pocket bags – made from Japanese fabrics of course. Made in Los Angeles.

Outlier 60/30 Chino

10 March 2011, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - Outlier 60/30 Chino

What is the 60/30 chino? In short, its Outlier’s reaction to the pursuit of the perfect pant. They modeled their latest chino in a military style, free of waistband. Pockets are made with a cotton linen blend for improved breath-ability. Added are key loops, a stash pocket and hidden front button – gentle reminders of Outlier’s forward thinking approach to traditional garments.

The 60/30 chino comes in tan and marine blue. We are partial to marine blue.

Detailed shots of the 60/30 chino from Outlier after the jump.

Orlsow Slim Chino Pants

Orlsow Slim Chino Pants

Orslow, a brand from Hyogo, Japan shows us their Spring 2011 Collection. From hardwash jeans and shirts to hardwashed chinos and oxfords, the collection really showed great detail in the pieces. The “Slim” chino pant was probably one of my favorites. Because the pants were “hardwashed” it gave a soft feel to the fabric. I was able to try it on and it fit amazing. A great pair of khakis for the summer months. It’s available at Orslow.

Dickies Oakwood Selvedge Chino

05 January 2011, 09.38 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - dickies

We bet you think we’re posting these Dickies Chinos because of the Japanese selvedge fabric. Wrong. Your second guess might be our undying love of Americana. Also incorrect.

We’re posting these trousers because they have a “Machi” crotch insert providing greater range of motion and comfort. (And as reminded to go read Jason Dike’s recent feature).

The Dickies Oakwood Selvedge Chino comes in black and is based on the 874 work pant.

Details follow.

Selectism - post-overalls-denim-lined-chino-01

Lining your chinos with a warm fabric is always a smart move in winter – buying them pre-lined is even smarter. Post Overalls have some gingham lined chinos that’ll do the job nicely, making sure you always look crispy but never get cold. (Bureau)

Albam Denim Taper Chino

03 March 2010, 14.30 | Posted in Denim | No comments »

Selectism - albam-denim-chino

This isn’t new per se, but it is relevant for the season that’s just around the corner. Our relatively sparse postings on denim aren’t out of hate, it’s because we’re all such heavyweight denim wearers that shopping for new pairs is unnecessary. When it takes a year to break the pair you have, you’re not gonna be on the market for another pair, are you? But these denim chinos are perfect for the guy who loves his denim and doesn’t want to give them up just because it’s summer (i.e. us). As you’d expect from Albam it’s reasonably priced – we wonder why Albam biters bother when the original stuff is so affordable – at £85. (Albam)

Soulland ‘Workers’ Chino

19 November 2009, 11.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - soulland-workers-chino-01

We’re noted fans of Soulland here, they give pieces great quirky touches (remember that fedora cap?). What elevates these chinos above a pair of bog-standard chinos is the shade of blue – a few shades above the usual navy, but not so light that you look out of place wearing them in winter – and the pressing. We keep on hearing about how pressed trousers/chinos/jeans are due for a comeback, but this is our first time seeing it in a ‘real’ setting. We were on the fence with regards to this trend, but if they’re as good as these we’ll get behind it. (Azita)

Detailed images after the leap.
