Over lunch this week , a diner mentioned the difficulty in finding a proper fit on chinos. At the time, I also could not think of a pair which had done me right without the need to have them taken in. But this morning, ACNE reminded me that they do serve this market well. We’ve got history with these trousers, having featured them extensively back in the day (aka a few months ago). Journal Standard have released an updated version of a chino we featured aaages ago, but the reasons we like it are still the same: that gingham lining. We’re bamboozled as to why more companies aren’t doing this, what with rolling your trousers being hot stuff and all that. Sure, there’s a couple out there, but not enough. For those looking for a durable true work wear pair of chinos that are “still made in America,” may we introduce the Left Field Duck canvas chinos which look like they’ll withstand a tractor as well as a fall off a motorcycle. They’re thick, they’re heavy, and they’re probably overbuilt, but we don’t mind. When you put this much attention into a single pair of chinos, you may be onto some we love – obsessions. The R.Newbold for Goodhood pop chinos may not be the first to market with their offering but they do bring the heat in terms of construction. Available in three colors – navy blue, grey, and beige, the chinos are made from 100% cotton selvedge twill and fit regular with just a touch of taper on the hem line. the contrasting stitching on the pockets is a nice feature. Great durable looks from this collaboration.
