We return to Rider Boots, this time via Leffot. These Chukkas are just on the right side of chunky, perfect in black, with a textured leather setting the whole thing off. George Cleverley present the Nathan chukka boot. One of the world’s finest shoemakers, 50 years of bespoke craftsmanship means these guys know a thing or two about making fine footwear. The chukka feels like the kind of grown up shoe you aspire to wear once the grey really kicks in and an interest in sheds develops. This particular model comes in black calf and tan suede, they feature three eyelets and a chiseled toe to give that long, lean look. Leather Soul has them.

Sundays are always a good day for reflecting on current collection. Here’s a look at a few of the many shoes and boots found in the Yuketen Autumn/Winter 2011 collection.  The leopard print ranger shoe, shown above, is one of the more unique looks from the collection. The crepe sole works against the leather quarter panels well, but we do wonder on the longevity of this look over time. Then again, fashion is seasonal; you can always move onto another pair. Dig through the looks for shades of mocassins, chukka boots and many others.

Finally a fresh take on the chukka. YY comes through with these navy linen and wool mix upper sneakers that feature a reinforced heel and panel detailing that runs up the length of the heel. The three-hole lace-up finishes them well. LN-CC has it.

Mark McNairy has fast became known for his expansive footwear collection, having skilfully revised a number of classic silhouettes through recent seasons.

One of his latest pieces, produced by Sanders in England, is the contrast sole chukka boot. The upper of the boot is constructed from premium, full grain Oxblood leather which sits atop a striking rubber sole in vivid yellow – the later accent now commonplace in many of McNairy’s designs. The boots offer a burst of colour which is often absent within a typical autumnal wardrobe, something a little different that allows the spirit of summer to meander on through into the cooler seasons. AHTE. No, we’re not misspelling hate, that stands for ‘all Harris Tweed everything’ – a cause we can all get behind in this day and age. It’s certainly a cause F-Troupe believe, as they’ve released a tweed heavy range for this autumn, which includes these lovely Chukka boots.

We love a bit of leopard, especially when it’s applied to our footwear. It can be a bit hit or miss elsewhere but some leopard print on the feet is a timeless classic as far as we’re concerned. You might even call it a staple. So staple out your wardrobe with these chukkas. (LN-CC)

Buttero is clearly on fire in 2011 with modernized takes on classic footwear forms without straying too far away from the originals. Their dark brown grained leather mid chukka boot with woven cut out features a double wrap around leather lacing and a hand-stitched heel treatment. Here’s an in-house boat shoe with chukka styling from Barneys New York. The Italian-made shoe comes in a dark brown finish and features a pronounced stitch detail on the sole (is it jute?).  Takes some strong queues from Japanese takes on this silhouette from a few years back.
