We’re starting to hate Cole Haan.

With every new release of the Lunargrand, the collection gets better while our wallets get thinner. While some will continue to call the releases “blogger shoes” the fact remains that the Nike Lunarsole against the soft leather upper works for us. Every colorway on the new Lunargrand chukka has us asking: ‘when is the drop date?” The answer is this Thursday, May 3 at the Cole Haan shop on Prince Street in SOHO NYC (don’t worry – we’re sure they’ll be online in no time). They price in at just shy of $300 a pair – a hefty price indeed, but as we mentioned above, we need them.

Armando Cabral highlights his new chukka boots for Autumn/Winter 2012. Made from Saffiano leather in his “choice” Italian factories, Cabral works to mixes a sneaker-like sole against uppers made from materials like soft deer leather, suede brandishing, and a triple brushed diadema leather which gives the material a pleated look. We will share more from the collection shortly.

We return to Rider Boots, this time via Leffot. These Chukkas are just on the right side of chunky, perfect in black, with a textured leather setting the whole thing off. Footwear appropriate for all occasions: denim times, work times, hanging out with your friends at your local hostelry times. “With black large pebble grain calfskin, known by Rider as “Inca”, and welted Sestriere soles, these are unique, sleek, and durable all at once.”

George Cleverley present the Nathan chukka boot. One of the world’s finest shoemakers, 50 years of bespoke craftsmanship means these guys know a thing or two about making fine footwear. The chukka feels like the kind of grown up shoe you aspire to wear once the grey really kicks in and an interest in sheds develops. This particular model comes in black calf and tan suede, they feature three eyelets and a chiseled toe to give that long, lean look. Leather Soul has them.

Sundays are always a good day for reflecting on current collection. Here’s a look at a few of the many shoes and boots found in the Yuketen Autumn/Winter 2011 collection.  The leopard print ranger shoe, shown above, is one of the more unique looks from the collection. The crepe sole works against the leather quarter panels well, but we do wonder on the longevity of this look over time. Then again, fashion is seasonal; you can always move onto another pair. Dig through the looks for shades of mocassins, chukka boots and many others.

Finally a fresh take on the chukka. YY comes through with these navy linen and wool mix upper sneakers that feature a reinforced heel and panel detailing that runs up the length of the heel. The three-hole lace-up finishes them well. LN-CC has it.

Mark McNairy has fast became known for his expansive footwear collection, having skilfully revised a number of classic silhouettes through recent seasons.

One of his latest pieces, produced by Sanders in England, is the contrast sole chukka boot. The upper of the boot is constructed from premium, full grain Oxblood leather which sits atop a striking rubber sole in vivid yellow – the later accent now commonplace in many of McNairy’s designs. The boots offer a burst of colour which is often absent within a typical autumnal wardrobe, something a little different that allows the spirit of summer to meander on through into the cooler seasons. AHTE. No, we’re not misspelling hate, that stands for ‘all Harris Tweed everything’ – a cause we can all get behind in this day and age. It’s certainly a cause F-Troupe believe, as they’ve released a tweed heavy range for this autumn, which includes these lovely Chukka boots.

We love a bit of leopard, especially when it’s applied to our footwear. It can be a bit hit or miss elsewhere but some leopard print on the feet is a timeless classic as far as we’re concerned. You might even call it a staple. So staple out your wardrobe with these chukkas. (LN-CC)
