Tres Bien quietly slid in Church’s into their stock list about a week or so ago and now they’ve received their first styles in. Sadly, they don’t have the suede desert boots we featured from their SS09 collection, but they do have a great selection of Church’s continuative styles. Our pick of the bunch is the Chetwynd shoe, Church’s classic full brogue. At £460, the price is far from cheap – but the quality is far better than any designer shoe sold at the same price. We know we said we’d show Church’s AW09 collection today, but we’ve decided to hold it until next week. As our constant forays into unobtainable Japanese clothing shows, we like to tease. Shoe lovers will be glad to know we’ve got Rachel Comey’s AW09 collection later on today. Anyway, about these totes. They’re well made, sturdy and could be worked into a younger man’s wardrobe (which can’t be said for most of Church’s accessories). Church’s have been pretty under the radar as far as the heritage thing went, but now Tres Bien are stocking them, look for the blog love to grow considerably.

While Church’s do seasonal collections, they also have a range of continuative styles that, as the name suggests, carry on all year round. Amongst the classy brogues, oxfords and loafers is this desert boot. The sole is sturdier than the usual crepe sole used on desert boots and because of this, it’s more adept for year round use. The suede upper would still mean than any rain (or worse, people stepping on your feet) is to be avoided. Look for Church’s AW09 collection later on this week.

Heritage is a hot term right now – so it only makes sense for us to feature a true heritage brand who haven’t hopped on the history boasting bandwagon. Church’s collection does have several trend-led items such as suede desert boots and penny loafers, but they’re finished to a much higher degree than any designer shoe we can think of – and at about half the price, with the boots above costing £165. The collection, which is in Church’s stores now, features suede shoes, tasselled loafers and slimline brogues.
