We always enjoy a little trip into the prefectly turned out, if a little unusual, world of Close Up and Private. It’s Spring isn’t it? Right, well let’s get in the mood with Issue 4. If there’s one thing often lacking from the world of menswear it’s a sense of humour. Luckily Sergei Sviatchenko knows just how to bring this alongside some spot-on styling and carefully chosen clothing. Take a look.
Close up and Private pay homage to Chubby Checker. If Sergei Sviatchenko wants to do the twist, who are we to stop him? If you’re watching this at work, go ahead, do a little foot shuffle under your desk.
We’re always on the lookout for an iPhone case, so getting one shot by CUAP is always gonna be up our alley. Sergei Sviatchenko has collaborated with leather goods company Duke on these five cases. Limited to 25 pieces worldwide, one’s made from calf leather and the other four are from watersnake leather. We like the snake versions ourselves. They seem like the sort of thing Kanye West would rap about. (CCA&A)
Sergei Sviatchenko’s Close Up and Private has been carving a niche for itself separate from the menswear boom for a while now. It’s not lead by trends (although it popped up at the time when everyone was in love with Ivy style) and there’s enough touches to it to suggest that it’s an art project instead of a photoshoot. This time he’s worked with Costume National to create this interpretation of their AW11 collection, which are more than worthy of your attention. They might even get a reblog or two on tumblr.
Close Up and Private’s Sergei Sviatchenko’s made a new series entitled LESSCUAP. Combining elements from his LESS series, the aim of the series is to ‘take the attention of a spectator from the elements which are commercial objects into direction of abstract composition.’
GANT Rugger Denmark worked with Sergei Sviatchenko of Close Up and Private for a quick shoot around the Rugger Autumn/Winter 2011 collection. The visual style found on his site is expressed on the GANT Rugger looks. A nice little viewing should do you right.
We caught up with Sergei Sviatchenko, the man behind one of our favourite sites, Close Up and Private. Read the feature for an insight into his world, his favourite decades of style, his love for the Beatles and why CUAP isn’t preppy.
