So here we are, part three of our Oki-Ni style takeover. This time we thought we’d show off some clashing checks, a nice pair of denim and some boots so new they’ve not even made their way onto Oki-Ni’s ‘coming soon’ section.  Take a leap to see the full shot and product details.

Tokyo | PEdAL.E.D Bicycle Clothing

Selectism - Tokyo | PEdAL.E.D Cycling Clothing

Bicycle specific clothing is still rocking well in Tokyo. In Nakamugero you’ll find PEdAL.E.D, a Japan based label that offers what I would consider more casual biking attire. Though, technical, they take an urban approach to their gear that doesn’t try to do traditional menswear. Instead you’ll find wooly jackets, chino style pants, and variety of bags. No intimidation factor here. Just plain good wearing that’s designed for casual cycling first and foremost.

More looks at PEdAL.E.D after the click.

Q&A | The Wurst Clothing Line S/S 2010

wurst spring summer 2010 01 Q&A | The Wurst Clothing Line S/S 2010

ACL gets all personal with the Wurst Clothing line. “I absolutely live in oxford cloth, so that isn’t something I throw around lightly. The Wurst story is far from conventional in terms of how most clothing lines are launched, but that is something that intrigued me. Not to mention the fact that the goods are made domestically, so I approached Wurst with an open mind and took a few minutes to catch up with  the brand’s founder Roy Dank  (ed note: amazing name sir!) about the debut S/S10 collection.”

More looks from the The Wurst Clothing Line S/S 2010 after the jump.

selectism - K & T H Mfg Co. Cigarette Pocket Shirts

Smoking used to be cool (still is I guess) back in the day. Flip through those old photo albums and you’ll find a pack or two. The popularity of smoking made clothing manufacturers re=engineer their garbs to make their storage easier and retrieval a cinch. These three "Mountain Pocket" shirts from K & T H Mfg. Co. bring back classic look of the cigarette pocket of 1947 with a check, herribone, and chambray set of button downs. Workman approved. Available now from Workers.

Tonite For Paul Smith Jeans Japan

01 May 2008, 16.01 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

tonite for paul smith japan collection - highsnobiety

Two completely different UK labels have gotten together this season – Tonite and Paul Smith.

This work was a special request from Paul Smith to design a capsule collection for their Japan stores. It will also be making it’s way to London with a very limited appearance at the P.S. Borough store. This is the very first preview. It is heading into stores now.

The name of this collection is “Robinstein Frankencrusoe” and as that suggests, it’s about a combination of the attributes of those two (Robinson Crusoe & Frankenstein) mythical figures. Frankenstein, alienated by a hostile, war-like society, escapes and takes to the Sea, pursuing the Sun and the promise of a better life. However, he is ship wrecked and washed ashore on a small tropical island, where he is discovered by it’s only resident, Robinson Crusoe. They form a friendship and an alliance and the clothes reflect their collective ideas about survival.

There are elements of surf-style and punk in the clothes, which are part of Fergadelic’s ongoing attempts to meld the Punk with the Hippy!

It’s a very interesting collaboration and especially an unexpected choice by Paul Smith. The most prominent UK designer once again shows his appreciation for underground talent.

The collection is now hitting stores in Japan and London. We expect the line to sell out rather quickly, so if you are interesting go to the stores in the next couple of days. Via Highsnobiety.

Check out the collection after the jump.

Interview With Garbstore’s Ian Paley

highsnobiety feature - garbstore's ian paley interview

Taking inspiration from vintage clothing seems basic on the surface. However, rarely do people push beyond the basic rehashing of old themes and looks. Garbstore is about capturing a feeling in manufacturing and detail. Against the rash of retro style and nostalgic graphic pilfering, this approach is certainly refreshing. It proves the benefits of looking closely at material culture and extracting lessons from that exercise.

Having founded One True Saxon, and helmed R. Newbold and Red Ear in the Paul Smith empire, Ian Paley’s reputation speaks for itself. His experiences, no doubt, have provided him with necessary tools to pick apart aspects of the old and re-imagine them so cleanly. Garbstore is a brand hinged directly on the quality of its product and the joys of making new items.

Highsnobiety sat down with Ian Paley of Garbstore, one of the most exciting new brands that we have come across in a while. Make sure to read the feature.
