We’re into coffee tables these days. Where else are we gonna put all those fancy books we’ve buying recommending lately? This Muuto version comes in a couple of sizes, so there’s one big enough for a good looking carafe and big enough for that book you was to showcase to any potential dates lucky enough to make it back in your flat. The Zif Coffee Table has everything to satisfy a lust for industrial chic, combined with a warm heart to hold our dearest possessions. Pull the wheeled leg side and a wood lined drawer is revealed. This provides space for magazines and other important clutter. A simple mix, but an effective one. The Newton Table is designed to explore the potential of molded plywood. Its designer, Karl Andersson, employs 3D design software and 5-axis mills to create newly possible forms with the material. His interest in plywood comes from its efficiency in manufacture. Andersson also claims that high quality furniture inspires owners to hold on longer. This notion pushes the idea that good design is, in and off itself, sustainable design. (via Frame Mag).

Celebrity Vinyl is a coffee table book by Tom Hamling. The hardback chronicles superstar’s attempts on vinyl and features a few surprises. Next to Eddie Murphy – I don’t care what the book says, ‘Party all the time’ is a classic – John Travolta, Goldie Hawn and Burt Reynolds also feature. Get it from Paul Smith’s UK online store.

The Wired Coffee Table is made of solid steel tubing and available with oak or walnut top. Alternatively it can be upholstered in cork or fabric. The table comes from Phase Design, founded in 2000 by Reza Feiz. He is dedicated to functional objects made in America. (Via Six Different Ways).

This coffee table was designed by Alexander Girard for Knoll in 1948. An asymmetrical side and one straight side makes it rather versatile and space saving. The top is made of a walnut veneer. Still in production from Knoll with original proportions, the table canbe found at Design Within Reach.
