J. Press for Urban Outfitters

selectism - J-press-for-urban-outfitters

In news that’s caused sections of the menswear blogworld to spontaneously combust, J.Press have teamed up Urban Outfitters. UO, best known for their line in awful vintage and poorly edited menswear, have been on a heritage ‘tip’ lately – teaming up with the likes of Duluth Pack before this collab dropped. At this rate, Nigel Cabourn will be collaborating with Debenhams. Oh wait.

ASOS Best Of British Collection

Selectism - tim-soar-chukka-01

ASOS continue their Best of British collaboration series with another laundry list of A grade designers. The collection, which officially launches tomorrow, features too many designers for us to mention so we’ve narrowed it down to our two favourite pieces. And those are – drumroll please – these Tim Soar chukkas (above, obviously) and a Peter Jensen Union Jack Jacket. The second choice is nowhere near as awful as it sounds, so don’t be put off. We especially like the chukkas because they look like a collab between Common Projects and Gourmet.

Take that leap, see that jacket.

First Look | My N98 Muse

Selectism - nike-98-collection-01

(L-R: Katie Eary, Tim Soar)

We don’t usually post up much Nike here (that’s what our big bro High Snob is for) but Nike’s latest collab is well suited to SL. Nike and Tank magazine teamed up to bring together six designers to re-imagine the N98 track jacket with a 2012 Olympic hopeful. Designers included the likes of Tim Soar, Sibling and Katie Eary, who were given free reign to work on these jackets. The athletes included Martyn Rooney (no relation as far as we know), Danny Care and Charlotte Purdue. While we’re not familiar with these names just yet, we’re sure to be come 2012.

Raf Simons for Fred Perry Button Through Polo

Selectism - raf-simons-fred-perry-buttoned-polo-01

Here’s the annual return of the button through polo shirt. We featured it last year, but it’s such a good idea (and such a nice alternative to the white tee) that we had to feature it again. Price warriors be warned, it’s relatively costly at £145 so you make sure you’re in love with it before you spend your rent money. (Oki-Ni)

Take a leap, see those details.

Selectism - westwood-lee-anglomania-collab-01

Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania line recently teamed up with denim experts Lee for a capsule collection. The Anglomania line takes its inspiration from the Westwood archive, referencing her collections from the 70’s and 80’s whilst using some of the cuts that made her popular in the first place. There’s four styles of jeans and some denim shirts to compliment the collection, which will be released in July.

First Look | Ally Capellino for Liberty Frank Rucksack

22 March 2010, 19.06 | Posted in Accessories | 2 comments »

selectism - ally-capellino-liberty-frank-rucksack-01

SL fave Ally Capellino is celebrating her 30th anniversary this year and to mark that event she’s taking part in a number of events and collaborations. First up on the collab side is a special edition version of the Frank rucksack, made with department store Liberty.

Made with leather instead of waxed cotton and lined with Liberty fabric, it’s a slight tweak that Capellino has become renowned for. Liberty will also house an installation for Capellino during April, so any fans would be advised to take a peek if they’re in the city. This bag will be available from Liberty from April.

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Levi’s Cords for Opening Ceremony

selectism - Levi's Cords for Opening Ceremony

Levi’s Cords for Opening Ceremony launches the seasonal collaboration between Levi’s and Opening Ceremony.

For Spring 2010, Levi’s and Opening Cermony work in cord. The collection includes the iconic trucker jacket, a cord button down, and two slimmed versions of the 505 silhouette – available in pant, cut-off, and short. All manufactured in the United States, the collection bursts with spring color. Inspiration, apparently, comes from “the habitual spring migration of New Yorkers to the scenic upstate country side.” Regardless of back story, the collaboration yields cords of teal, fuschia, olive, curry, beige and more. These are designed to be mixed up or styled monochromatically (as our friend Mr. Mort has shown).

Levi’s Cords for Opening Cermony launches at select retailers in the coming week and becomes available through levi.com on February 15, 2010. Prices will range from $106 to $178.

For more looks from the collection, and to get a sense of the color spectrum, read on.

selectism - casely-hayford-john-lewis-capsule-collection-01

When news broke of Casely Hayford’s upcoming capsule collection for John Lewis, our feelings could be described with one word – bemusement. But now we’ve seen the collection, thanks to folks at Style Salvage, we’re firmly on board. With knitwear created by John Smedley, jackets made by Barbour (the shortest jacket Barbour’s ever made) and shoes by Cheaney, the collection looks to focus on quality as well as an affordable price point. The collection features 30 pieces in total and will be available from John Lewis physical and online stores from March.

Take that leap to see a short preview of the collection.
