Available now at all good newsstands is the The New Yorker’s “Cartoons of the Year” issue, highlighting more than 250 of the best moments from 2011. Cartoons by Roz Chast, Bruce Eric Kaplan, Jack Ziegler, Danny Shanahan are featured.  Bruce Eric Kaplan (who signs his comics as ‘BEK’) is also famous for having been a supervising producer during the first season of “Six Feet Under.” Pick up the new issue of The New Yorker this month.

Focusing on Reinhardt’s work in the 1940s, this is a collection of his comic commentary on the New York art world. Shown in a single table size print, it includes work that’s appeared in places such as Art News, PM and Transformations. You’ve still got a few days to catch this if you’re in London (it’s in the ICA until November 20), then it’s off to Amsterdam, where it opens on November 21st at the Kunstverein.

Here’s one look into Brazilian “comix” scene from the 50’s and 60’s that revolved around the most coveted topic of the day – sex. “During Brazil’s military years (1954 – 1982), one man was responsible for the sexual education of generations of Brazilians. This man called himself Carlos Zéfiro, and he designed and illustrated small pornographic comics that were sold all over Brazil for more than 30 years… Zéfiro was the nickname of a clerk named Alcides de Aguiar Caminha Filho. It is believed that during his lifetime he produced more than 800 issues.”
