Designer Hussein Chalayan works with Comme des Garcons on a new fragrance with takes the same name as his Autumn/Winter 2007 collection. “Airborne” is a unisex fragrance which includes “notes of the exotic Tunisian Neroli, Lemon from Syracuse, Bergamot, Lentiscus from Cyprus, Juniper Berry, Incense, Musk and Cedarwood” This is Chalayan’s first ever scent and represents “a journey from Cyprus to London… that’s why the frosted glass of the bottle and the box depicts etched cityscapes to reinforce the traveling man’s theme.” (wwd)

We’ve noticed that CDG has fallen behind Junya in the desirable designer stakes lately, but we’re still fans of both, especially when  they’re churning out bits like this. (Ssense)

The number one brand to make our titles and sentences look idiotic are, without a doubt, Comme Des Garcons Shirt. It’d be okay if they used a less common clothing name (CDG foulard or something) but calling it shirt always makes us look confused. Shirts like this are traditionally known as being ‘hard to pull off’ but if you like it – and we do – go for it. (Oki-Ni)

As part of their ongoing collab-fest, CDG have teamed up with Springcourt on these limited edition trainers. Actually, it’s more of a three way thing, seeing as it’s part of their beatles collection. It’s nice that their collabs are so well thought out (If you didn’t know, Lennon was quite the fan of springcourts, even wearing them to his wedding). As for the shoe itself? I used to cut out and collect “Life in Hell” strips from the local “indie” newspaper when I lived in Hartford, CT. Took me a while as a kid to get the humor behind the strip. Now it’s easy… age does it. CdG’s PLAY line continues to pull in some interesting collaborations. The latest with Matt Groening and his “Life in Hell” strips. They’re on these shirts. You should be able to find them through various shops that carry the PLAY line.

Comme Des Garcons’ “Play” collection is here for Spring/Summer 2011. The “Black Hear Black” V-neck sweater offers up a black heart patch and is made of 100% wool. All pieces are made in Japan and offer a slim tailored style. I feel that v-neck sweaters haven’t been getting much attention over the last couple seasons.
