Long time readers will know that we’ve been loving CDG since the day we were born. A firm SL fave, their latest CDG shirt collection is full of covetable pieces, including this tweed blazer. Whilst a tweed blazer isn’t anything special on its own, the cut and quality make this a step up from the usual vintage garb. The lapels are suitably slim – unlike 99% of vintage tweed blazers -  which immediately gives the blazer some modernity. The price isn’t cheap, but it’s what you’d expect from CDG. (ASOS)

WWD reports in with some very interesting news combining (arguably) the biggest band from England with Japan’s CdG line. What’s interesting about the collaboration is how reluctant Apple Corp, rights holders for The Beatles, have been about licensing out the name for anything other than music related products. “Comme des Garcons and Apple Corps Ltd. – the London-based company that manages the legacy and musical catalog of the British band – are teaming up to launch a new collection of bags under The Beatles/Comme des Garcons label, with the first styles slated to debut mid-November at Dover Street Market, Kawakubo’s multi-brand emporium in London, and Gyre in Tokyo, with additional distribution to follow…”

NYT’s Suzy Menkes has written a great retrospect on the eve of  Comme des Garçons 40th anniversay and the launch of their “temporary brand called ‘Black.’ “Rei Kawakubo created black as the color of fashion’s rebel yell. She might have pronounced later, in her enigmatic way, that “red is the new black” and made that vivid color — checkered or regal — part of her repertoire.”

Longtime readers will now that we have a love affair with CDG. It did falter during a pretty disappointing AW08 season, but we’ve fallen pretty hard for the Shirt collection – especially the gradient shirts that’s been dropping in stores over the last few weeks. This pink gradient t-shirt is also available in blue, the gradient seems to flow much more smoothly on this colour. Also, the yellow pocket patch adds a nice touch to it. Get it from Farfetch.

It’s no secret that we like Comme Des Garcons. Shirts like this are a reason why. It’s not your average shirt and a lot of people will be put off by the challenging design, but sometimes you need to step outside the ‘oxford and sweatshirt’ box that people put themselves in. We’re also seeing a lot of designs on collars and cuffs lately and we’re hoping this trend continues. Get this shirt from Browns.

It’s been far too long since we last featured anything by CDG, so we thought we’d get back into the habit by showing this piece. Blazers look destined to join desert boots in the ‘item of the season’ stakes and there’s plenty of them on offer. This CDGS blazer has contrasting pockets, which should be enough to set you apart from all the tweed blazers that’ll be out there. Get it from Tres Bien.

French shoe manufacturer Heschung has produced two pairs of leather shoes for the Comme Des Garcons Spring/Summer 2009 Collection. The set includes a black/brown leather shoe and a black wingtip shoe. Surprisingly the shoes do not feature leather soles and the soles also look rather thick. At first they look interesting, the thick sole put us off a little, but in the end you just have to check them out live in order to know what the deal is.

Why we did not feature this set of looks from the runway of Comme des Garçons Homme Plus Spring/Summer 2009 is beyond me but we’ll make up for it by not activating the usual one post per month CdG ration (just kidding). CdG junkies will go bonkers over the pairing of Comme des Garçons jackets. These two jackets from the CdG Homme Collection are simply adorned with navy/green and red/white trimmings on the collar and closures. They have a a very unkept look to them which is fine by us. Available now at Arknets.

The good people at Supernews are reporting that a new Comme des Garçons concept is soon to launch in Japan’s Anoyama hood. “Remember the comme des garçons x louis vuitton store on aoyama’s kotto dori? well, that’s gone now. but what will launch at that spot very soon is black comme des garçons, a new and yet unknown concept store that’ll stay open for two months only. we thought you’d like to know. location: 5-12-3 minami aoyama.”

Super groupies of the CdG are rejoicing. We’re very much excited to see what develops with Black CdG.
