It’s the wrong time for us to looking at anything corduroy but here we are. We do like the thought of this jacket (especially the buttons) but we’re also sweating at the prospect of wearing one in spring. Perhaps it’s one for the folks who like to buy ahead. (Someday)

We usually can’t put up a patchwork piece without someone having something extremely clever to say about it – but we think this’ll be the exception. Mainly because you can barely see the patchwork pattern, so it won’t offend those of you who find patchwork unbearable. And it’s corduroy, which makes it rugged and all that jazz. (B Store)

If there’s one scourge in menswear it’s that of the skinny jeans on non-skinny people. So, it’s with trepidation that we recommend these rather slim cords. Yeah, they look nice, but please stay away if you do lunges. Our eyes will thank you. (Ssense)

While we’re not pulling out the cords just yet, we are giving it some thought. Everyone and their aunt should have a pair of beige cords by now, so some grey ones should be a nice addition to your cord collection. This light blue colour will slot in nicely for all your folks with a chambray shirt or two (i.e. every man interested in clothes). James Perse delivers the best basics in the game today but they’re offering extends well beyond. Check these cords from the line available in cement, sidewalk, and black. “100% Cotton. Clean, classic 5 pocket corduroy straight leg pant. Hidden button fly.” Well done.

We know we’ve put this up, but we’re still not sure whether we like it yet. It’s got all the credentials of a blog worthy jacket (as in it’s corduroy and linked to Japan) but the pattern is a little ‘out there’ for even our off-kilter tastes. And, judging from the fit on the model, it looks like a ’size up’ affair. (ASOS)

We feel a bit silly recommending a corduroy shirt in the middle of July, but you gotta think ahead sometimes. And seeing as it’s now pretty hot regardless of where you are, a shirt like this is only suited to those days when the weather calms down, unless you think beads of sweat are a great accessory. Cord shirts are great for folks who like their pieces to do double duty (i.e. us) and the sale price ($45) is the icing on the cake. (Opening Ceremony)

While we’re still not 100% on corduroy suits – the 70’s vibe is a little hard for us to let go of – we can co-sign a cord jacket. This one, by Margaret Howell’s diffusion line MHL, is sharp enough to be worn as a blazer to a semi-formal function – note the breast pocket, perfect for getting your mad men on. We know it’s sartorial sacrilege recommending contrasting corduroys, but it’d go pretty well with some tan cord trousers. If you’re gonna go cord on cord, just remember to wear trainers – shoes can tip this into ‘biting your grandad’s style’ territory. (Margaret Howell)
