COS Autumn 2010 Collection

Selectism - COS Autumn 2010 Collection

One day, we’ll be seeing the COS shops popping up in North America. The company, which is part of the H&M dynasty has published their Autumn and Winter 2010 looks online. It is indeed a bit of a step up from the H&M line, with more focus on the basics and the more Eu friendly cuts for the gents. Overall, the pricing is moderate and workable as well.

More looks at the COS Autumn 2010 collection after the click.

First Look | COS Autumn/Winter 2010

Selectism - cos-autumn-2010-01

Alongside Uniqlo, COS remain one of the few high street stores we’d actually recommend. Whilst a couple of COS’s most recent collections could be accused of overdoing it on the workwear influences, the AW10 collection has the balance just right, with quilted shirts being teamed with snoods, sharply tailored trousers and blazers. Elsewhere, there’s duffles, coated cotton jackets, the now-standard cropped trouser and sleek corduroy in the rest of the collection, which you can see after the leap.

First Look | COS Autumn/Winter 2010 Derby Shoes

13 April 2010, 17.30 | Posted in Shoes | 3 comments »

Selectism - cos-autumn-2010-shoeHere’s a sneaky peek at a handsome pair of derbies from COS’s upcoming Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. We’ve personally been neglecting black shoes for a while, but they’re a true wardrobe essential. Brown shoes are great and all, but there will always be a time when black shoes are necessary. COS have always been great for folks who want handsome shoes but don’t want to cross that £100 barrier and this shoes carry on that tradition. The mixture of leather and suede (leather’s used on the vamp, throat line and heel, whilst suede is used on the quarter) make this just a little more interesting than the usual derby. The £99 price tag doesn’t hurt either.

COS Spring/Summer 2010

02 November 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - cos-spring-2010-01Now that COS is a success, the challenge is to continue creating desirable, minimal collections that still retained some fashion sensibilities. From the looks of the hooded pullover anorak (far left) and trousers with elasticated hem (centre), they’ve achieved just that. Other standout pieces include the previously featured duffle and blazer and a short sleeved cardigan. For the record, we’re still against short shorts.

Take a look at the rest of the collection after the leap.

COS Spring/Summer 2010 Duffle Coat

29 October 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Fashion | 5 comments »

selectism - cos-spring-2010-duffel-coat

Yes, this is a duffle (according to COS anyway). We’d call this a parka ourselves, but that’s just the pedant in us. Like COS’s SS09 car coat, this’d make a great summer weight jacket and you could wear it well into autumn (like we’re doing with the car coat). If we had to change anything it’d be the buttons – navy buttons on a navy coat scream laziness to us. That aside, it’s a great coat and changing buttons shouldn’t cost more than ten of whatever currency you use (yen excluded).

After the jump we’ve featured a nice looking double breasted blazer – and there’s prizes on guessing what we’d change on that either. These, along with the SS10 collection will be in COS stores from January.

COS Spring/Summer 2010 Zip Desert Boots

27 October 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - cos-spring-2010-bootHere’s a sneaky peek at COS’s SS10 collection. While their clothes get most of the fanfare (and rightly so) COS have been releasing stylish and affordable shoes for a while now. What immediately makes these stand out is the whole cut – giving the shoe a sleekness that other zip detailed shoes lack. That fact that these are only £129 doesn’t hurt either. Look for them to drop in COS stores in January.

COS Autumn/Winter 2009 Backpack

selectism - cos-autumn-2009-backpack-01

We featured this before, but it’s worth a closer look. We’ve been personal fans of COS for quite a while now – the only reason we don’t feature them more is because they’re very hard to get hold of. The Japanese stuff we feature is fiddly, but getting a COS piece without walking into a store is damn near impossible.

We liked this bag when we saw the preview, but loved it after seeing it in store. The first thing we love is that it’s huge, as in The North Face backpack huge. It could easily fit enough clothes for an overnight stay or a 15inch laptop with room to spare. The second thing is that the canvas material feels raw, like cocaine straight from Bolivia. The third thing is that it captures the whole hunter/workwear thing that’s going to be hot this Autumn down to a tee. It’s also at an affordable price (£129).

Take a look at some detailed shots after that jump.

COS Washed Denim Shirt

01 July 2009, 13.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

cos washed denim shirt COS Washed Denim Shirt

Although denim shirts have offically made a comeback, it’s still a challenge to get hold of an affordable, well made one if you’re nowhere near a J.Crew. This COS shirt is a great, soft washed denim and the fit is like the rest of COS’s shirts – perfect. The slim collar means it also lends well to being buttoned up to the top – so it’ll work well as a layering piece in the winter. Add in the £39 cost (half price now in the sales) and this is a no brainer. Like all COS pieces, this isn’t available online, so finding a store is your only option. (COS)

Check after the leap for detailed shots.

COS Navy Shorts

15 April 2009, 15.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

cos navy shorts COS Navy Shorts

Forgive us for our short fetish – but the sun is out pretty much all around the world and we’re thinking of our true summer outfits. We could waffle on about these COS shorts but sometimes less is more  – they’re the right length, a nice navy shade and are solidly made. Sometimes you can spend all your time looking to expand your wardrobe, but if you don’t have the basics right then you’re wardrobe isn’t worth much to start with. You can’t get this online, so you’ll have to make the trek to a COS store.

cos autumn 2009 01 COS Autumn/Winter 2009

We showed you the COS accessories range yesterday, but now we can give you a look into their mainline collection. The collection features several strong pieces, including a cape – which looks to be growing in popularity lately – parkas, flecked wool trousers and a concealed button coat. Like always, their lookbook features a strong look, but their pieces could be made to fit a range of styles. Take a look at the rest of the collection after the jump.
