We continue to follow the progress of British label Tender, a favourite and the sort of  brand that comes with a warm, caring feeling around it and not just because of the name (Tender is also a reference to the truck which carried coal on a locomotive, check the backdrop).

Keeping hands on with the entire production process, everything’s researched, designed and carefully crafted so the finish product will survive the rigours of life on the railway or tube, whichever you generally find yourself on. Dye, denim and cotton are their staples, see what they’ve done with them for the summer months.

The new “T” Collection by Alexander Wang gives us their rendition of the poncho. This time they’ve re-worked it in 100% cotton and have taken a more refined look to the piece. This oversized styling pays homage to the classic surf styling of the 1970s. An awesome piece from the collection. Azalea has them.

NPR worked a sad story on the closing of a U.S.A institution. “After selling cotton to textile factories for almost 150 years, the S.M. Whitney Co., run by descendants of cotton gin inventor Eli Whitney, is set to close… Whitney has just 190 bales of cotton left. At its peak, the company brokered deals for 80,000 bales annually. Whitney says he got a lot of business by talking with farmers…”

April77 hit the Japan looms for three button-up shirts for your wearing pleasure. The “Thrill,” “Hickory,” and “Saddle” shirts are all loomed from Japanese cotton and come in a variety of styles from double weave check to red selvedge hickory. All three look great and feature a distinctive cut appropriate for most men.

More looks from Bread & Butter. We come again to the Nigel Cabourn showing with focus on his beeswax cotton jackets. Two cuts are available – a longer rain coat inspired version as seen after the jump, as well as a shorter model with hood.
