James Perse Thermal Pique Stitch Crew

James Perse Thermal Pique Stitch Crew

A proper crewneck from Los Angeles’ James Perse line. The pique stitch finish and overlock hem stitch keeps the crew in form. It is blended from a mix of 24% Linen, 46% Viscose for a highly soft to touch feel. Raglan sleeves finish it off. Be sure to dry clean only. Hits you at $250 from Perse. Well worth the money.

Edwin ‘Wyatt’ Crew Neck Jumper

27 August 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

Selectism - edwin-wyatt-sweater-01

You know winter’s truly here when you can bust out the thick knitwear (and use the phrase ‘bust out’). This Edwin piece is a step outside of their denim clad boundaries   but, surprisingly, it’s a great knit. Orange (or ‘fire’ if you’re Edwin) is a great alternative colour to have, just as versatile as navy if you know what you’re doing in the colour-matching department. (Flatspot)

Saint James ‘Meridien II’ Crew Neck Jumper

Selectism - saint-james-meridien-jumper-01

If, like us, you just can’t let go of knitwear in spring, this should prove a good halfway house. To paraphrase southern rappers, errrbody knows about Saint James by now, so you don’t need us hyping them even further. Just focus on the facts that they’re well made and locally produced (everything’s still made in France). And all those price-focused folks will be glad to know that this only costs £45. (End)

Take a leap, see those pictures.

Rodarte Mohair Crewneck Sweaters

Selectism - Rodarte Mohair Crewneck Sweaters

While these Rodarte sweaters, which are now available at OC, may not keep your completely warm this winter, they will certainly set you and your wallet in a new class. Made from 57% superkid mohair and 10% alpaca, the crewneck sweaters should be layered with a couple of undergarments unless you, like the model, have some proper tattoos that will accentuate your day. Big money.

APC Flecked Crewneck Sweater

10 November 2009, 11.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - apc-flecked-wool-crewneck-01

It’s offically winter now, so there’ll be no shortage of knitwear from us. First up is this APC flecked number, which just dropped the other day over at HS columnists Azita. The difference between this and say, Our Legacy’s flecked jumper, is the sheer amount of flecking. We’re not even sure what to call it (fleckeration? extreme flecking?). Either way, this is a worthy addition to your sweater team (or whatever you call the bunch of jumpers in your wardrobe). Put it on and get your suave on. (Azita)

S.N.S. Herning Naval Crew

selectism - S.N.S. Herning Naval Crew

By now you should have realized that we love authentic goods. S.N.S. Herning falls exactly into that category, producing heavy naval knitwear since over 30 years. About two years ago the brand started popping up in fashion stores and is ever since celebrating its revival.

Nevertheless, to date, the brand still offers the very same naval crew necks that they produced from day one, just now they offer some more exciting colors.

Oi Polloi has re-stocked them and for those in the USA, visit Rogues Gallery for domestic orders. Perfect for the Fall.

Vintage PSU Letterman Sweaters

Selectism - Vintage PSU Letterman Sweaters

If you read Selectism on the regular, you may be aware of the coverage we give to heritage brands; especially when they are re-absorbed by the international markets. Gant with BEAMS+ and Woolrich Mill come to mind.

But when I ran across this true piece of vintage American heritage wear on Reference Library, I found it well deserving of a bigger audience. Check these two incredible sweaters from the early 1940’s. These PSU lettermen’s sweater and crew are pure example of that very time and place. You can see the lettermen rocking these throughout campus. Very solid example of America’s heritage in varsity fashion.

You can see the original auction here. Sold as part of a lot for 1325$US.
