Some new denim from the Denham line in the form of their 1st Edition Select line. “In July Denham will deliver a new collection called 1st Edition Select. 1st Edition Select  is a limited 150 piece per model.” Each pair is handmade in Japan and is said to have taken six months to build. They do indeed look worked.

Denham shares two preview looks from their Autumn 2010 collection. The Duty and the Liner” jackets should be examined for details (in our gallery).”The Duty is based partly on the original M65 military field coat, but the finesse of the pocket-shapes and the visual minimization of the lower half of the garment also takes inspiration from a British para- trooper smock from WW2…The Liner’s unique approach to modularity is at the heart of the dockworker’s practical layering style. The reversible design was in- spired by a 1950’s hunting blouson. The 9-pocket outer construction derives directly from a WW2 USAF C-I Pilot’s Emergency Vest.”

Amsterdam’s Denham opens doors on their Tokyo shop this weekend. “Opening to the public on June 4th, DENHAM’s stand-alone To- kyo store represents the second dedicated retail presentation following the successful opening of the label’s Amsterdam loca- tion. The new store’s Daikanyama address is perfectly suited for DENHAM’s distinct design ethic and product-culture. The district is home to Japanese denim temples Okura and Hollywood Ranch Market as well as newer concepts in modern utility such as Nan- amica and respected international brands like Paul Smith.”

So, after 10 years, it looks like the day of the ‘manbag’ is over. Let us expand on that – we don’t mean that men carrying bags is over, just the phrase itself. Not only was is silly, but it made no sense. Didn’t men always carry bags? Anyway, this bag is handsome enough for anyone to carry, be it the dandiest of the dandy or the most authentic workwear fanatic you know. Just don’t call it that awful phrase. (Superdenim)

Amsterdam played host to Denham’s opening recently and their store has more than a few interesting features. First up is the ‘blue salad bar’. In this section customers can customise jeans styles – essentially a Nike ID for Jeans. You can choose colour, leatherwork and stitch options. The jeans are then made by the owner, who assembles them within 7 days.

Jason Denham, who got his start working for Joe Casley-Hayford, has made these limited edition denim bags. There are three bags in this collection, called the ‘Steamer’, the ‘Banker’ and the ‘Organiser’. The steamer (pictured below the jump) is based on the original Louis Vuitton steamer bag, which was created in 1901. The Banker is based on an original 1944 USA banker cash carry bag and the organiser is based on WWII air force pilot’s map carry case.

These bags are only available from Denham’s Amsterdam store.
