Selectism - e15-alex-side-table-01

It’s nice to see the cousins of E17 have launched a successful design studio (no one outside of the UK got that joke but we’re sticking with it).  Nest are having a sale and these side tables are the pick of the bunch. And, like we’ve said on many occasions, side tables are the new Tricker’s. (Nest)

Flat Light Bulb

Selectism - flat-bulb-by-joonhuyn-kim

Curated lets us know about this light bulb:

“An interesting idea from Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim. As practical as it is to have a flat light bulb, say in regards to shipping perhaps, or storage, or even in the carry home… I think this may be too smart for it’s own good. What it gains in efficiency of transport, it looses in uniformity of light. Not to say I’m not disappointed I can’t get a few of these for my apartment (sadly, they aren’t in production). Because how cool is a flat light bulb?”

Curated lets us know about edible spray paint. What’s the point? There is no point. That’s the point. “Haven’t gotten your intake of spray paint lately? The Deli Garage is here to help.” See more over at Curated.

Selectism - Divison-of-Labor-poster-set-01

Here’s something to put on your walls if you’re one of those new media 3.0 start up companies. Or a blogger. Or us. Division of Labor have brought out this set of posters listing the new rules of the modern workplace. We can especially relate to the sentiment on the far right. (Division of Labor)

Notcot lets us know about the multicopter, a personal helicopter. Interesting, even if you do run the risk of looking a little douchey.

A short documentary, this one takes a look into knife maker Joel Bukiewicz. All seriousness aside, we think it’s really nice that a knife maker can be looked upon as an artisan instead of an aspiring serial killer.

Selectism - movable-type-01

The new project from Kyle Durrie of Power and Light Press, is called movable type. It’s a ronseal project, essentially it’s a van that’s been converted into a letterpress studio. It’ll be travelling around the US giving workshops and demonstrations. There’s even a map to see where it’ll land next. (Crap=Good)

Transparent Steel Church

Selectism - see-through-church-01

Forgive us readers for we have (probably) sinned. We saw this Church and thought ‘wow, what a cool church’. It’s so cool, we might even turn us into believers – which is probably Gijs Van Vaerenbergh’s intention. And before anyone asks, yes we are that shallow and blasphemous. (Fubiz)

Foul Play Football Trophies

Selectism - foul-play-trophies-01

Here’s something the football (or soccer if you refuse to call football by its rightful name) fan can appreciate. These trophies were made to celebrate the worst of football – the diving, the high kicking (aka the De Jong) and other shenanigans. Created by Wong Wong and 3D Ninja Dotsan, the two trophies are the best dive and worst tackle and will be awarded to the players who either con the referee the best or foul the worst. No word yet if it’ll be an official award but we’d say it’s unlikely. (Shapeways)
