Piad Design Stacking Vessel

12 September 2011, 23.00 | Posted in Design | 1 comment »

Selectism - piad-design-stacking-vessel-01

Like all men, the main thing we look for when buying a product is an excuse. Is it functional? Is it heritage? Is it authentically made? Have the tears of Tibetan monks been used to varnish this wood? Excuses, excuses, excuses. Which is why we like this vase stacking vessel. It’s pretty enough to work as a plain vase and functional enough, being made of three separate and usable compartments, to pass our excuse test. It should pass yours too. (Piad Design)

Selectism - bandy-side-table-high-bottle

It’s clear by now that we quite like Jardan. We’ll let Curated do the talking.

Melbourne-based furniture house Jardan recently debuted the Bandy range of stools, which are shown also as a base for small tables. The Bandy collection was inspired by the abstract silhouette of hand-crafted ceramics, with clean polished lines and meticulous timber craftsmanship.”

Freunde Von Freunden visit Sibling

Selectism - sibling-fvf-apartment-01

One of our favourite home voyeurism sites, Freunde Von Freunden, have gone international. They’ve found their way to Shoreditch, shooting knitwear trio Sibling in their apartment. There’s a lot to look out for but we’ve got our eye on that Kobe statue. And the antlers. Can’t forget the antlers. (Freunde Von Freunden)

Selectism - real-business-cards-01

This post is as Ronseal as they come. Some people have got hold of several real business cards from Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates and other personalities. These are all old details so don’t bother trying to write down their phone numbers and giving them a call. Besides, we already tried that. (Fubiz)

Selectism - Alessi-teo-Teaspoon-01

It’s not everyday we get to say phrases like ‘tea bag management’ – today’s one of those days, no Monica based pun intended. This ‘Teo’ teaspoon grips your teabags, ensuring you get every last drop from your  teabag. And that, our friends, is great tea bag management. (Fast Code)

Autoban Ladder Bookcase

Selectism - autoban-ladder-bookcase-01

Are rappers namedropping furniture yet? We ask because we feel anything made by Autoban fits rap requirements. And by that we mean it’s relatively hard to find and relatively easy to rhyme. Potential for braggadocio aside, it’s a handsome thing. It could also double up as magazine storage, a plus if you overdose on magazines like we do. (De Le Espada)

Selectism - matthew-hilton-chair-01

We truly, madly, deeply feel that sofas are the new Trickers. And we’re glad to be at the forefront of this movement. You might even say we’re spearheading it. If just one person ends up with an amazing sofa in their house then we’ll have done our job. (De La Espada)

Selectism - bachag8

Chairs on chairs on chairs, we’ll let Curated explain:

The wood and aluminum Bachag chair, crafted and designed by Korean designer Joong Ho Choi, was a part of the iDEALGRAPHY project, which asked designers to create mix and match style within furnitures and fashion. It was aimed to show the contrasts between the two ways of designing, and how their marriage could bring about a balanced final product.”
