Dior Chiffre Rouge M01 Watches

Dior watches tend to do well with the masses. Take a look at their latest M01 collection. “Dior Chiffre Rouge watch collection is the limited M01 (edition of 200), a design with unique details such as a black translucent sapphire crystal caseback, matte black ceramic bezel, and a white gold oscillating weight right on the dial” (acq)

Dior Chiffre Rouge T01 Watch

Selectism - Dior Chiffre Rouge T01 Watch

Remember the Dior “Red Digit Diver” watch? Now, Dior is back with the Chiffre Rouge T01 Watch. As Luxist tells us, “the watch is 42mm wide in steel, and has a black ceramic bezel (which is nice). The look of the steel with black is carried over on the back of the watch where the sapphire exhibition caseback window has a ring of black around it to match the look of the watch case. Inside the watch is an automatic Calibre Dior 8 Fuseaux Horaires (8 timezones), which is likely a base ETA, and was specially developed for Dior. The watch tells the time, and has a day/night indicator (which is part of the hour hand).”

Dior Christal Mystérieuse Watch

Timezone reports in with one of the more interesting timepieces to come out of Baselworld and Dior. The Dior Christal Mystérieuse Watch uses “a sapphire crystal mystery movement developed by the Quinting Manufacture. The movement is a collaboration of five engineers – three Swiss watchmakers, an automotive engineer and an electro technical engineer – who dedicated seven years and ten million Swiss francs into project.”

The mother of pearl inserts adorning the watch were developed by the Parisian Studios of Dior Avenue Montaigne “inspired by Art Deco and Cinetic Art.” Even cooler is dial facade which rotates itself once a month from it’s initial position. I love this watch. Look for it this Autumn for – get ready – 20,000 Euros. A banger for sure.

The Dior “Red Digit Diver” Watch maybe one of the nicer drops from the Dior watch department in some time. The black rubber or stainless steel casings measure at 42mm and comes with a 42 hour power reserve. Two solid looks from Dior.

Christian Dior And Chinese Artists

22 November 2008, 01.00 | Posted in Art | No comments »

christian dior chinese artists 1 Christian Dior And Chinese Artists

Christian Dior recently commissioned a set of top Chinese artists to work with some of their archive pieces, which is now displayed since November 15th at Beijing’s Ullens Center for Contemporary Art.

“As well as sumptuous and outrageously flamboyant recent Dior pieces by John Galliano and original Christian Dior creations, the show also features specially commissioned works by top Chinese artists, whose brief was to comment on what Dior is, stands for, or makes – basically they had to artistically express Dior.

Conceptually it’s a mixed bag but the ambition and visual results are pretty amazing. Li Songsong’s 23-feet high Lady Dior Bag is made out of carefully interlaced fluorescent tubes; Wang Qingsong has created an epic Last Supper featuring beautiful fashion models in new Galliano outfits and the artist himself as Jesus in hospital pyjamas (hospital drips replace the holy bread and wine). There’s also a recreation of the Dior atelier in white porcelain by the ceramicist Liu Jianhua, and a ten feet high painting of Galliano by graffiti artist Zhang Dali (whose graffiti tag is ‘AK 47′).” Via Wallpaper.

Have a look at some of the more impressive works of the exhibition after the jump.

Dior Radioactive Denim Jean

Selectism - Dior Radioactive Denim Jean

Luxist turns us onto some serious use of metallic pigments. “If you’ve ever felt the need to spend $600 on a pair of jeans you are in luck. Dior designed these ‘radioactive’ men’s jeans that are made of 100% cotton, in a dark wash, with a shiny metallic finish. The five pocket cut and button fly appear pretty standard, as does the slightly tapered leg, so my guess is you are paying for the unique silver ‘radioactive’ look, unless they also repel spills…. “

I’m sure if they repel but they may cause some to step away in fear of contact.  Available online and in Dior boutiques for 600$US.
