Selectism - duffer-westway-tee-shirts-01

We’re in July now, so it’ll probably be scorching wherever you are. Whilst we love an oxford as much as the next man, there’s a time when you’ll need to lighten up and, in the words of Rich boy, throw some tee’s on it. These duffer tees (which are still made by the original designers, a point we have to say every time we feature duffer) would do the job nicely and they’re £25. (Duffer)

selectism - First Look | The Duffer Westway Shoe

Duffer’s take on the classic plimsoll has been available in Japan for years. Big surprise there, right? Now, they’ve made it available for the European and North American market with four color schemes ranging from simple to slightly off-kilter. Black and white are obvious, while the gray/sky blue and gray with green hit versions are touch more eye catching.

All are produced with canvas upper and rubber sole. After all, they are plimsolls. Nothing ground breaking, just another Summer option.

Duffer of St. George Spring/Summer 2010

selectism - Duffer of St. George Spring/Summer 2010

The allure of the high street is back with Duffer of St. George’s spring/summer 2010 collection. We’ve discussed the fleece before and the unpretentious nature of the product continues to appeal. It’s about core classics – baseball jackets, polos, nylon pullovers, etc. – everyman wear for the pub.

Detractors will note that the collection is available at  J.D. Sports, but at the moment there’s something comforting about accessibility.

The look book has been shot by Neil Bedford, whose work regularly strikes a cord.

Duffer Spring/Summer “Burnside” Sweatshirt

selectism - Duffer Spring/Summer "Burnside" Sweatshirt

I’m a total sucker for collegiate inspired garments. And, thanks to growing up in the ’80s and early ’90s a sucker for relatively large logos as well. Duffer’s spring/summer fleece offerings hit both marks, in particular the pictured “Burnside.” The piece comes in gray and navy, each with contrasting caramel buttons.

They are also easy on the wallet at a touch under 50 quid.

Selectism Feature | Marco Cairns, The Duffer of St. George

With The Duffer of St. George celebrating 25 years, Glenn Kitson catches up with founder Marco Cairns.

Camden, North London, 1984. A group of friends begin an enterprise that would eventually lead them to starting the UK’s first streetwear label. The Duffer of St. George was conceived as a way to get off the dole, make a bit of cash to bankroll a bit of clubbing and enjoy a period in early 1980s London when you could still have access to a manufacturing base that would knock up some limited runs of t-shirts, jackets or trousers and still not break the bank.
