Colorado’s Topo Designs does a very nice line in backpacks but we’ve covered those already. We turn our attention to the Duffel. This one is as attractive as its Rucksack brothers and is identical in all but shape. However if you’re looking to carry a little more this might be the way to go. 1000d Cordura fabric, Topo assure this can withstand quite a beating,  taxi/airport carousel/karate kick proof.  Lots of interior pockets, detachable  seatbelt strap – all the leather tabs and handle are made from natural leather, primed for aging. Comes in orange, black, grey and camo.

SWIMS may be known to most for their galoshes. Yes, they do those water resistant shoe wraps better than most. But you may not be aware that they also translate that water resistance to their duffle bags. Available in a few colorways, the orange being our favorite, SWIMS make their products usable but highly functional under the most rainy of circumstances.  Available this Spring 2012.

Outdoor bag maker, Jansport, goes premium in the right direction with their Carbon collection for Barneys. The Carbon collection brings five styles in black leather and canvas in blocked black leather, making them some of the best from Jansport in some time. The ruggedness of the outdoors is blended to work for the urban needs of most. A very slick, finished collection. Five forms of bags make up the collection, including two classics from the Jansport line as well as some new surprises as the Bruckner Tablet Case for your iPad needs. Billy Reid shows us their classic medium sized duffle. This time around, they uses a garment dyed duck cloth for the unit. The bag also features antique brass rivets “that date back to the mid 1960s.” Features a “refinforced bottom, two interior leather pouches and a leather grab-handle on one side.” All the leather accents are from from the Horween Tannery. Numbered and all hand crafted in Tennessee.

A solid grey always works – as does white and black. Munich’s Harvest shop work on this duffle bag with clothing and bag makers, Akindofguise – also from Munich (more on Akindofguise coming soon). The duffle bag comes in two colorways.
