We take a look at duffle enthusiats Gloverall’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. You’ll be unsurprised to hear it contains a lot of duffle fastenings and heavy wool. These are their bread and butter which means you won’t get any Thom Browne style surprises. Fashion needs a kick in the rear every now and then but steady-as-she-goes thinking is not something to turn your nose up at.

What they do they do well. Clever collaborations with the likes of bstore and the odd splash of attention grabbing colour in the shape of oranges and limes keeps things fresh while the classics march on. The fact is though the combination of oatmeal wool, wooden toggle and rope pull just works. Always has, probably always will.

A carry-over from Wendi Reed for Autumn 2011. This knit duffle coat is a beautiful garment that features contrasting textures against a heavyweight garment that is properly warm and “cozy.” One of our favorite coats of the season. Available in green and black. Aloharag.com has them.

Sometimes heritage brands fall through the cracks – Grenfell is one such brand. At one time it was spoken of in the same breath as Barbour but it eventually went under. It was eventually revived by a Japanese company who now sell it in Japan. So, in a nutshell, that’s why this jacket is only available in Japan. Happy proxying! (Museum Arks)

Get your Ron on with this Burgundy duffle coat. As far as trends go, the duffle is one that’s been bubbling for a few seasons now. While we’ve liked the duffle in theory, the heavy wool can get tiresome at the best of times and leave you smelling like a wet dog at the worst. Which is why we like this waxed cotton version. We all know about the positives of waxed cotton at this point, so making a duffle coat with it is just – as Don King would say – logicality. (Coggles)

As much as we joke about Junya Watanabe’s stuff, we do like the clothes. Take this duffle for instance, it may be from Watanabe’s most ‘wearable/sellable’ collection in  a while, but it looks damn good. It is Watanabe though, so expect the price to be higher than Wiz Khalifa. (Ssense)

And, if you live in one of those areas where spring showers are a guarantee then you could do a lot worse than this coat. And it’s made in London, which should please the details fanatics. We’re not sure if ‘waterproofness’ is a word, but it is the one we’d use to describe this coat, and Nanamica as a whole. We do tire of saying ‘the prices are up there but it’s worth it’ but that is the case with this coat. And, furthermore, who wouldn’t want a waterproof duffle? (Nitty Gritty)

Here’s a little marmite to brighten up your morning. Patchwork is a love it or hate it sorta thing, but we love how it looks on this coat.
