Into its second season is the excellent Nigel Cabourn collection for Eddie Bauer. We’re told that the collection will be made available through select shops and there is much to be excited about. The archive digging Cabourn pulled out a good deal of fresh gems for the second collection. Specialty fabrics developed in the 1970’s by Woolrich for Eddie Bauer get a second life. British millerain sites against 1970’s Bauer textiles in various forms. The Trapper jackets are standouts looks.

One note for those that still wonder on the price point of the collection: consider that the quilted parkas are hand stuffed and require more than five hours of work for each garment to produce. Cabourn refuses to compromise and we’re happy to see that Eddie Bauer agrees.

An understated piece of quilted outerwear from Marc Jacobs. This one is reminiscent of those classic Eddie Bauer ‘Sunset’ label jackets without the ‘blizzard proof’ guarantee. A military feel with the grey/green tone, it features elasticated cuffs and collar, fly front, press studs and zipper. The fit is on the slim side, a good way to go with anything padded to avoid any Kris Kross associations.

Part of the Spring 2012 collection, this jacket isn’t one for arctic conditions so layering is advised. Find it at Oki ni.

Holiday 2011 is getting closer by the day. From the fashion side of the season, we can expect a variety of specialty collections, including a fresh take from Pendleton. Pendleton’s collection for Eddie Bauer offers season-specific menswear including overshirts, bags, and scarves in iconic Pendleton patterns. While heritage is the trend, the true legacy players in this market continue to provide classic takes for all.

Way back in January, we previewed the Nigel Cabourne work for Eddie Bauer. We mentioned it looked to be an EU exclusive and this still remains. END has stock on two excellent “Canadian Vests” from the collection. Avaialble in orange check and midnight blue, the vests were originally designed for the military but today, flipped in the way only Cabourn can: Harris Tweed hits, square quilting with calf skin shoulders.

What we’re looking at is strong, highly tailored and developed outwear the Seattle staple brand. It would now seem that the collection may become available in the U.S.A.

Check this. Eddie Bauer collaboration with Nigel Cabourn. To to the point: this collection will be available only through Nigel Cabourn retailer doors. From what we’re told it is not being sold within the United States, which is a slight disappointment. It is a fantastic collection designed in England. Heavy weight outerwear featuring true leathers and high quality fabrics throughout. But you knew this. It’s Cabourn designed. Seen at Bread & Butter Berlin.
