We’re sure we’re being anally retentive about details right now, but we really like how the stripes are placed on the pocket of this pocket tee. Yep, we really just said that. And we mean it too, it makes all the difference in this world of conservative dressing we’re currently living in. Also, it’s from Japan, which is reason enough for us to like anything. We can’t help but think classic golfing style when we see this shirt. Come to think of it, would Tiger Woods have gotten in so much trouble if he wore pieces like this? (yes, but don’t let logic get in the way of this argument). A great piece for when spring stops messing around – few things are more annoying than hot rain – and you can start rolling up your sleeves again. Zozo’s of Japan is a great site for discovering one off items that may tend to remain buried otherwise. These wing tip shoes from Edifice are a prime example. The shoe itself is set on a “boot” like sole which drives home a solid mix of ruggedness and style.

At this point, we’re sure every Edifice design meeting ends with ‘have you tried adding crushed leather buttons?’ No hate from us though, if you’ve found a winning formula – there’s no need to change it. Just call it ‘the crushed leather effect’ – or TCLE for short. This time TCLE ™ does wonders to the quilted jacket; We’ve seen a fair few about town this season, but this one is our favourite. Here’s another teasing collection from Japan. This time Edifice have teamed up with Mackintosh and Lavenham Scotland’s Traditional Weatherwear to create their new quilted jacket ‘weatherwear’ collection. Quilted jackets have sprung back into popularity, with the hipster crowd being the first to hop on the bandwagon. Edifice have made a series of quilted jackets in nylon and tweed (pictured above) and, as usual, it’s exclusive to Japan. It’s not online yet either, so you’ll have to have a proxy who’s on his game to get you one of these. Or you could ask Jeff (our managing editor) who’s over in Tokyo right now.

Hot on the heels of their Penfield collab, here’s another proxy-worthy piece from Edifice. We hate posting Japanese pieces you can’t your hands on, but seeing as Edifice is sold at both Opening Ceremony and Liberty, it looks like this piece will be available to all soon enough. The limited vest celebrates Edifice’s 15^th anniversary.  It contains a nylon body lining, goose down insulation, 100% leather shoulder yoke, internal buffalo plaid shoulder yoke and 2 exterior insulated hand warmer pockets. Available in Japan the  grey market. Proxy?

From the looks of the sale, Liberty overloaded on Edifice this season. This is one of those bad news/good news situations. The bad news is they’ll probably have far less in next season. The good news is that what is in this season is going for ridiculously low prices. Take this denim blazer for instance. For those instantly put off by the idea of a denim blazer – don’t be. This is as soft as can be and it’s available from the grand total of £52.50 (down from over £300). Calling this a bargain would be an understatement.  (Liberty)
