While we don’t hate double-breasted coats, it is getting harder to recommend them when it’s been the prevailing coat style for going on two years now. Not many companies would think of collaborating with such a company, but Edifice did and the outcome is the perfect mix of the new and the old. Like most Edifice clothing, stockists on the Western side of the world will be hard to come by.

As anyone who’s been shopping lately will have noticed, it’s a buyer’s market right now. Shawl collars are really popular right now, so why not wait until you’ve found the perfect one before you take the plunge? While we won’t begrudge you if you want to wait a little longer, we feel these Edifice shawl cardigans are perfect. The material is just heavy enough – avoiding the annoying too hot inside/too cold outside thing you get with some knitwear, the shawl V is deep enough to show off your shirt, tie or bow-tie and, for the nitpicky out there, it has contrasting buttons, making it more interesting than 99% of shawl collar knits available right now. Japanese brand Edifice have recently released their new collection of Blouson coats. Made using Melton – the material primarily used in pea coats – the single breasted buttoning adds a look of sophistication that other pea coats lack. The one problem with Edifice is their lack of US and UK stockists. As of right now, only Liberty in the UK stock Edifice. They do have an online store though, so with the help of a proxy and the ability to speak Japanese you can order this from their online stockist.
